While there is no flinching from the destruction itself, the darkness, or fear, is exposed for it’s propaganda purposes. Throughout all of the activity, the Sun moves unafraid through the rubble offering his light and warmth to those who long to rebuild."

The overhead lights and chandeliers are fully operational, so that the dolls can see what they are eating or playing with. The switch panels (15 switches) underneath operate all the lighting, so that the different rooms of the mansion can be turned off and on. Yes, it is eco-friendly with all the windows, too.
This dollhouse has been donated to the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, in downtown Chicago.

A floating home by the sea. Modern and comfortable. The house is surrounded by a wooden deck and shallow water. A bridge connects the deck to the guay. Fully interiored as always. Kitchen, toilet and living room downstairs. Bathroom, bedroom and storage space upstairs. You find more photos of the interiors in my photostream.
Inspiration comes from childhood summers and sailing with my parents. It was a challenge to catch the maritime feeling with details such as railings and stays and at the same time keep the design clean and modern.
I used dark blue bricks to create the water surface. The more common technique with transparent tiles or plates wasn't really on option because it didn't fit in the colour scheme.

Porcelain and I both liked this room very much. It was supremely fancy and made us feel that, if we lived here, we would be FORCED to host Thanksgiving Dinner every year just to use the room. It was girly but sophisticated and modern. It made us feel rich just to pass through.
On this shoot, we heading to the grave yard borrowed someone's old shack. Hope they don't mind :)

Scotty's Castle (also known as Death Valley Ranch) is a two-story Mission Revival and Spanish Colonial Revival style villa located in the Grapevine Mountains of northern Death Valley in Death Valley National Park, California. "Scotty's Castle" is named for gold prospector Walter E. Scott, although Scott never owned it, nor is it an actual castle. Prospector “Death Valley Scotty” claimed this elaborate Spanish-style mansion was built by gold from his fictitious mine. In reality, it was the 1920s vacation home of his wealthy friends.
Hidden in the green oasis of Grapevine Canyon in far northern Death Valley, the Death Valley Ranch, or Scotty's Castle as it is more commonly known, is a window into the life and times of the Roaring '20s and Depression '30s. It was and is an engineer's dream home, a wealthy matron's vacation home and a man-of-mystery's hideout and getaway.
Walter E. Scott, Death Valley Scotty, convinced everyone that he had built the castle with money from his rich secret mines in the area. Albert Mussey Johnson actually built the house as a vacation getaway for himself and his wife Bessie. Scotty was the mystery, the cowboy, and the entertainer, but he was also a friend. Albert was the brains and the money. Two men as different as night and day, from different worlds and with different visions - who shared a dream.

Outside the House on Striped Pillars bedroom. A chest of drawers. A tea pot.
Modern living inspired by old open-air-bath architecture as the house is standing on pillars in water and is offering an open space for bathing in the middle.
You enter the terrace through the rock on the backside of the house. On the terrace you find a small outdoor kitchen and table with chairs made of ladders and steering wheels. Kitchen, reading corner, livingroom and sauna with shower on first floor.
The house is entered from the terrace. A high plated wall goes though this floor leading from the hallway to the master bedroom and bathroom. Here you sleep with a 180 degrees sea view.
The floor below is reached by a floating staircase attached to the wall. A corridor with a resting chair (made of life preservers) and glass cabinet combines two parts of the house. One of them is hosting a kitchen and dining area. The other one is hosting a livingroom. Here you also find a small sauna and shower room with a ladder leading directly down to the water.
This is my third house built into a rock. The other two are called "Green Rock House" and "Calmwater Cliff House".

Stone and stucco combine with multiple gable peaks and an impressive, front entry to create stunning curb appeal for this European home. The grand foyer greets visitors on the inside, while the dining room and bedroom/study flank the foyer on both sides. Further along, the great room includes a cathedral ceiling, porch access and wall of windows to view outdoor scenery. The breakfast room and kitchen are also open to the great room and one another, simplifying mealtime.
On the other side of the home, a large master suite was designed to pamper the homeowner. A bowed sitting area grants extra space in the bedroom, while the luxurious master bath features a corner shower, large soaking tub, his-and-her vanities and private privy.
In the basement are three bedrooms, each with their own full bath—and added treat! A large rec room with fireplace completes the basement and provides an additional gathering space in the home.
