Yet another Contest entry. Yep, I've been busy. Anyways, I built this about two weeks ago, and it was quite fun and quick. I had the idea to have him dreaming of something terrifying in his bed. What else would you do with the sleeping face?

First time using dXo Film pack plug-in. I used the "Velvia" algorithm, cause I love that film!
I had to remove a lot of color 'fringing'. Anyone else using the Minolta 24mm f/2.8 lens have this fringing problem?

Dream is a 2009 sculpture and a piece of public art by Jaume Plensa , on the old Sutton Manor Colliery site, St Helens, Merseyside.
Dream consists of an elongated white structure 66 feet (20 m) tall, weighing 500 tonnes, which has been cast to resemble the head and neck of a young woman with her eyes closed in meditation. The structure is coated in sparkling white Spanish dolomite, as a contrast to the coal which used to be mined here. It cost nearly £1.9 million and it is hoped it will become as powerful a symbol in North West England as Antony Gormley's Angel of the North is in North East England.
Jaume Plensa himself stated "When I first came to the site I immediately thought something coming out of the earth was needed. I decided to do a head of a nine-year-old girl which is representing this idea of the future. It's unique."
When I dream, it will be the beginning of time. When I awake, it will be with two palms timidly outstretched to praise the derelict beauty of the universe.

heh... sometimes I can't resist the rather cheezalicious edits. Like this one for instance...
In a few short steps (a little warmified bw treatment and soft foucs) I have transformed a rather ordinary photo of W. sitting on the grassy side of the Prince George Civic Centre and recreated the dream sequence of many a boy (or those slightly confused girls)...
It's the classic dreamboat on campus scene. W. looks the part here, with his fine Italian footwear, dashing sport jacket casually strewn on the grass beside him, all while assuming a contemplative crossed arm pose.
And the boys and girls all wondered what intelligent thoughts he was thinking.
I'm taking suggestions for the soundtrack of this dream sequence.

This shoot was themed based on the fact that we're having a veeery strange winter here in Canada. Usually by this time I would be sliding on ice while walking on the ground and having my ears, nose, and eyelashes collecting ice, but the weather is tame this year, and if it snows it barely lasts for 24 hours before the rain washes it away. I don't know if I should complain or not, there's still about two months of winter left, we'll see, lol.

The other night when I came home and there was a bit of snow on the ground I literally made a snow angel on my driveway, hahaha.
Took a fellow flickrati on a tour of Fort Ord and was thrilled to have a willing victim pose for me. Craig is visiting from the Washington, DC area and is great fun to shoot with and a very good sport, so I got to try out some ideas that have been brewing for a while.
Catherine just loves December because it means that Christmas is coming ♥ She's dreaming about all the presents she might get... ;3

I decided to finally use my tripod which I got over a year ago... It comes to use when sun starts to set down at 3 o'clock.... But this photo still required a lot of editing but I kind of like the result ~ but Catherine's hair is on her face, whoops.

... a congratulations to the dream fly, herself, my daughter and the "father of the bride-to-be" my son-in-law and to Allison who this year got herself engaged to the college "hunk" and graduated with a degree in interior architectural design...or some such. I appropriate Aboriginal ideograms melding them to an English narrative thereby creating a cross cultural dialogue raising issues of ownership and authorship which attempt to overcome the barriers of our differing spoken languages and cultures. The chosen songlines are often banal or whimsical when compared to the sacred dreamings passed down through the 70,000 year history of artistic tradition belonging to the Aboriginal peoples of Australia.
My work concentrates on brightly coloured dot paintings, a particular style of work originating from Balgo, an area situated in The Great Western Desert 800km North West of Alice Springs.
This series of paintings have been exhibited in London, Cardiff (2x), Pembrokeshire (3x) and Barnsley (2x).
i am grateful because God has given me the capacity to dream but not without the posibilities of turning them into realities!

It's far too hot as of late. Going through some old photos I found this one of OSR on it's way into Guelph on a lovely winter morning. Unfortunately, Every time I've shot this spot, it's been cloudy.

Wakanda School: Neil, Isak, Austin, Lexey, McKenley, Jeremy, Harlee
Materials and Techniques Used: The large earth was appliqued, the smaller squares used fabric markers. The small squares were pieced together to make the panel.
What is the story behind your groups panel?
We discussed our dreams for the future in each of the 3 schools I work in. Overwhelmingly, the students said peace was their dream. Se we decided that peace would be central in our squares, then each student designed a small square that represented a related hope (but not exactly like anyone else's square / hope). Students collaborated within their class and among students in other buildings. We finished our unit discussing the fact that dreams demand action and brainstormed what we could do to accomplish these dreams. The finale was viewing "The Lost Generation" on U-Tube. Students were really moved by it.
