I'm making drawstring bags these days. I produced five in the last three days. The big one is the most finished, the long skinny one the next most finished, and the three small square ones the least finished of all.
Pink organza bags with white polka dots from Ribbons and Favors were used for a "make your own favor bag".
These 2 drawstring bags are class projects of the Craftsy online class (Bag making). I really enjoyed the videos. Planning to finish the bucket bag portion this coming weekend.
And there ya go ! You reused castoff denim, used a stitch-out or a scrap of fun fabric, and you now have a one-of-a-kind bag for nearly anything - music, medicine, sewing notions, pencils, nearly anything.
For added fun, attach buttons to the ribbon ends, to keep it from disapearing into the casing. Or use a shoestring instead of a ribbon. Add trim to the applique 'frame', or lace to the outside of the casing while you're sewing down the inside. Have fun, and go with it !

I made this drawstring bag for K. using this tutorial by happythings. It was SUPER easy and only took me about an hour (maybe more I had a 2 year old as my assistant). Now I'm going to make another one for L.

Enlarged & modified the Day Bag pattern by Nicole Mallalieu with drawstring closure & an elastic pocket for ipad...my favorite knitting tool! This was an experiment that still needs a little work...I don't like zipper closures for knitting bags since I always zip my yarn into the zipper at some point but I think this drawstring top is a little too big for this bag & wish the bag was a little bigger. WIP...

I added a few wee surprises to Ana's bag - a zip coin purse, larger zip pouch and drawstring bag. i had a hard time giving her the drawstring bag, it was too cute. But it's the perfect size for a change of toddler clothes, and matches her bag of course. I think I'll have to make myself one very soon though!
