This beautiful bag was made by my friend LauraJay.
I purchased it from her. And can I just say that when I got the package in the mail today, that I almost cried when I saw this. Here work is perfection. There are 72 blocks total on this bag and EVERY single block is different. the colors are gorgeous. Absolutely perfect for me. (it is raining and dark today, so the colors are a little washed out).

Here we have the new photos of my bags done by a great photographer friend. Over time he will be upgrading my photos for me! Ankh is Hand embroidered with Gold metallic thread. This bag is big enough for a large sized Tarot Deck or Oracle Cards. People have also used these bags for jewellery, crystals, runes and more!

The painting also pays homage to Winston Churchill and the close connection he had with Blenheim Palace. In the decorative border Lucy has depicted some of the famous attractions in the parkland and scenes from Churchill's life."
Not my usual choice of image, but I made an exception because I rather like the concept of these drawstring bag puzzles.
Just a small postcard-sized guide image, but plenty large enough for the purpose.
We visited Blenheim Palace once, many years ago but I don't remember much about it, so I've no idea if the puzzle is an accurate representation or not!

Anubis bag with Anubis statue facing the camera a bit more and Egyptian Tarot cards.. The top card is 'The Moon'. This is a lovely deck by Clive Barrett. I have Hand Embroidered him with metallic threads.
When I started with machine embroidery, I followed the sage advice to do a test 'stitch out' of a design I never used before on scrap fabric, before I tried it on expensive clothes or irreplaceable fabric. But I had no idea I'd soon have piles of successful tests and not a lot to do with them. Especially since I'm not 'into' quilting. I was really sad when the radio design I bought tested beautifully on a scrap of fabric too small to do much with.
That little problem was solved soon enough, when I started looking around for a container for my MP3, headphones, and USB cable. I could use the radio ! But it wasn't until Beloved Hubby used my sewing scissors to make a pair of cutoffs from some work jeans that I knew I had my last ingredient.
Talk about recycling - a jeans leg, a test stitch-out, a length of grab-bag ribbon, and ancient thread all came together to make me something new ! Free, too ! So I took pictures as I went, intending to write a tutorial on recycled reverse applique !
OMG I LOVE this bag! I have always wanted to sew a lined drawstring but the patterns I always found online were a little confusing. I found a great pattern the other day that was wicked easy to follow! Jeni at InColorOrder wrote it and It is amazing! I will probably make 50 more!

I was looking for something to do with the Sashiko panel I embroidered. Flower fabric is from Alexander Henry. Great pattern and quick to construct. I really like how the drawstring works.

When sewing you want to make sure the edge closest to the bottom of the bag is being sewn to the body of the bag. Ideally this will be 1/16″ – 1/8″ away from the edge. It doesn’t really matter as long as you catch the first fold you made- otherwise the raw edge will be exposed and may fray if you wash your bag.
Make sure you are only sewing/working on ONE side of your bag.
Use the edge closest to the top as a reference for making a straight line. Ideally both lines will be straight, however if they aren’t, it won’t be noticeable if you use the upper edge as a guide.
Backstitch the ends a few times for security.
