Michael Phelps is a caricaturist's dream. He has a face so uniquely his own. I had every intention of finishing this all the way through with full-blown color, but the app kicked me out before I could get any more (detail) in. In its lightly colored state, this reminds me very much of the work of another NY area artist named Joe Ciardello.

Someone suggested to me quite innocently enough that I should try out the app, Draw Something. I put up a protest, as I used to be an Angry Birder, but I soon grew annoyed with that game and deleted it from my phone. With Draw something, not so. If you've never played/heard of it, its basically Pictionary; they give you three words to choose from on different difficulty levels, like cat, multiply, and China, and you choose one, draw it, the other person has to guess, and you get coins/points for right answers that you can use to buy game bombs that explode letters from the guessing pool, more colors, etc.
So there I am trying hard to finish editing photos which are due two days from now, and I thought, oh, in between folders, I'll play a little of this...
Yeah, well, a little of this turned into a marathon. My streak, in hour one of *allegedly* five, I played this one guy 23 rounds before I lost when he drew the word outkast by drawing a bunch of stick figures on the right, and one guy on left with the words, crowd and lone guy. Of course, one does not spell out cast with a K unless in reference to a certain musical group, so I tried shuffling and shuffling the letters and bought a game bomb (which explodes some of the letters you can guess from), used that, and still tried every version of everything. I'm still pissed!
What's that you say...its just a game...get out into the sunshine...
...well, let me tell you something..me and Alec Baldwin know what's up. Games are the spice of life damn it and we will let nothing...not needing to go to the bathroom, not needing to sleep, not the Mayan Calender ending the world in 2012, not needing to refrain from bringing down a Boeing 747 with 187 people with your cellular device, ...nothing...NOTHING!!!!
Lauren got me playing Draw Something over the weekend, which is basically Pictionary via smartphones. Having spent a lot of time laughing at each other's awful drawings, we decided to see whether drawing things in the sand with our toes was actually easier. Worryingly, it was.
(This is my rendition of 'Titanic.' Carol voted it as the 'Costa Concordia' instead because my iceberg looked more like a rock...)
