Sorry everyone..not to have replied to all the wonderful comments you've been leaving for me. Have been ordered to bed..complete rest..for as long as it takes. So, sitting up, facing all this colour..how could I resist? Soft fine nibbed fountain pen, coloured inks, soft pencil, coloured pencil, felt pens, highlighter and..new this week , just trying it..a water brush!!! Tiny drawing: postcard size.
Sitting drawing in the car yet again, during my long over-Christmas stay in Maryland. Little dog Dixie gazing out the window of the passenger seat on the drive there..being ever so good..and I just managed to catrch her before she moved! Lovely group of trees where I was parked..right across the road from me
Drawn through the bedroom window late this afternoon, with my ink bottles, pots, water colour box, knives and brushes all lined up on the window sill in front of me.Daren't risk dropping ( almost inevitable given my track record! ) indelible ink on our white fronted Italian chairs so I Iugged the paint-spotted step stool in from the kitchen and perched on that! Enjoyed the free, windy feel of it all and decided, unusually for me..to begin with a huge mop brush and heavily diluted water colour to swish in just a suggestion of the blue/grey Spring sky. Hadn't the patience to wait till it was dry and started drawing with ink too soon..could I resist those sweeping branches????NO! Hence the captivating black blob centre right.... hm
Almost every morning we went to the Panera fBakery for breakfast. Yummy. Don't think it's all over the US. And whenever we parked the zany bright yellow and red of this auto shack sang out at me. So American. One day, when I was in the car for just a fraction longer... Fedex needed, close by!!!.. I managed to scribble it in. So..a very loose sketch..and I was lucky, I had coloured pencils with me.
Waiting in the car whilst my daughter was in the dentists..scribbling furiously. Cold and wintry outside but I was cosy and warm
Our first day out, the three of us, drawing in the sunshine together, in the village square. Chatter, cars at our elbow, mothers with prams, sprinklers.. and there we were, lost amongst it all ..on a long bench on the cobbles of a cafe's outdoor tables, mostly empty..everyone peaceful, no one even noticing we were there..... This was the real Gemany, at last..... and I drank it in..and loved it!
