We went for a rainy day drive on the weekend to this historical section of a city outside Toronto. The last time I was here was years ago when I bought a painting from a local artist. Do you ever feel a little breathless when you visit places that you haven’t been to in a long while? All these memories come flooding back. The near misses and what-ifs that occur in our lives, and the millions of decisions that we’ve made along the way that have brought us to this moment...
This historic building was the first thing to catch my eye when I stepped out of the car. At some point in the last ten years, the building has been painted this shocking shade of deep, bluish purple. I love that it matches my plaid umbrella (see reflection in upper windows). :) Handheld and under low light/rainy conditions, the images I took that day are not super sharp (does it matter?). But I like them well enough to share here. This is one of five. I hope you find something you like too. x
“All this isolation’s sinister
So be kind to yourself,
There will never be another you
There’s just nobody else that’s you!
You said, ‘Don’t let your heart give out’
No, I won’t let my heart give out
You said, ‘don’t let your breath run out’
No, I won’t let my breath run out...”

That happened today.
Razor Cure.
Thank you for your incredible eye to detail and your ability to stay still for me to sneak a picture of you while you were no doubt doing so yourself.
God I hope he doesn't mind.
Have fun while you shop until you drop.

Magical Morning Moments - Without doubt, the light produced by a beautiful morning sunrise or the golden glow of an evening sunset (both times known as the 'Golden Hour') are the very best times of the day to think about capturing a subject through your camera lens. If you're fortunate enough to be out and about during these particular times of the day when the conditions are in favour then you're in for a very special treat which will totally boost your images.
"Wait, don't walk away from me! You are always walking so fast! You just think I am getting the last word in!"
The one on the left likely is probably thinking "Lord give me strength" while the one on the right of your screen is no doubt nagging the other one likely getting the last word in. LOL
Almost a year later from the image in my comment below and I am sure that this is perhaps the same couple. LOL
I appreciate each and every visit, comment and fave here on my little corner of the world as seen through my lens

This Is the day... one of these days.
Or maybe tomorrow... above the clouds.
Autumn blew its leaves at me threatening winter as I walked. Summer always goes by so fast, it barely stops like my thoughts that sink and turn and change so fast. Above the clouds what's to be found, Ihave to wonder, will I be around as my anger shouts at my own self doubt? So a sadness creeps into my dreams, when you're scared of living... but afraid to die.

If you take a serious interest in the rich maritime history of The Netherlands, the town of Maassluis is the place for you to be. In the beautiful and picturesque heart of this old town situated on the Nieuwe Waterweg you will find the Nationaal Sleepvaart Museum (National Towage Museum). A magnificent, flourishing and fascinating institute, situated directly at the end of the Inner harbour.
This website comes with a lot of information about this tugboat museum. The Nationaal Sleepvaart Museum is the only museum in the world that is purely dedicated to towage. So, no doubt we are indeed unique.
A visit to our museum allows you to become thoroughly informed about the history and development of the Dutch towing industry in a most extensive way from 1842 until the present day.

I can't blame him for being so baffled at seeing such a stupid homo sapiens sapiens (although for the animal I was no doubt homo neanderthalensis) climbing up what was a rather steep slope. Usually you realize how steep it is only when you go down and see it "in front of you"... :-) :-( :-) For them it's a piece of cake to walk in such terrain, for me it isn't.

Le Doute
La blanche Vérité dort au fond d'un grand puits.
Plus d'un fuit cet abîme ou n'y prend jamais garde ;
Elle est là cependant, je l'entends qui respire ;

The Doubt
The white Truth sleeps at the bottom of a great well.
More than one flees this abyss or never pays heeds of it;
I, by a grim love, all alone venture there,
I go down through the darkest night.
And I drag the cable as far as I can.
Now I have unwound it to the end: I look,
And, with arms outstretched, my eyes glazed over,
I sway without seeing or finding support.
Yet she is here, I hear her breathing;
But, eternal pendulum that its power attracts,
I pass and repass and feel the shadow in vain.
I cannot lengthen this floating rope,
Nor ascend to the day whose gaiety tempts me?
And must I endlessly swing in horror?

Mayflies dance around the shrubs and the air is heavy with moisture despite the lack of clouds. There is no doubt spring is here.

Pacific Coast Flycatcher with a takeout order from his favorite deli. Bringing it home for the kiddies, no doubt. This guy was sooo patient - sat there forever letting me photograph him.
Marlow is without a doubt one of the loveliest locations on the River Thames, set amongst the rich meadows of the river valley and alongside the woodlands of the Chiltern Hills.
Now all those simple things are simply too complicated for my life
-No Doubt
I saw them in concert last night. They were truly amazing.
Taken yesterday morning with my phone. Maybe I'll get lucky and get another shot with my camera next time, but I doubt it'll be as good as this moment.😁
I have always granted myself the freedom to exercise artistic license and pursue whatever brings me joy. Currently, shots from my cellphone and digital AI artwork fulfill that purpose, at least for the time being.

There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of abandoned homes strewn throughout the countryside in Alberta. They did not fall out of the sky, but rather, were thoughtfully placed with the intentions of building a life within the four walls and a roof - a very long time ago.
When I come across these homesteads, I just have to stop. I don’t know why I am drawn to these old relics. Fossils of the past. It is as if can hear their heart beat in the solitude of the countryside.
Who lived here? What kind of life did they have? Did they conquer their hardships or challenges? It is without a doubt that the occupants encountered insurmountable struggles.
I try to imagine the essence of the house. Were there moments of joy and contentment despite the harshness and difficulties of the environment? I find it incredulous that it still stands even though it has been ravaged by time.
My imagination begins to percolate.
I want to hear the happy, contagious squeals of children giggling as they raced to the warmth of their beds at night; the sound of Mother humming as she lovingly brushed her daughter’s hair by the fire, or Father whistling with an air of fulfillment at a satisfying day of work that had been done and in anticipation of the hot meal waiting for him as he walked in, through the door. Goals, dreams and aspirations were quietly shared in the secrecy of night. Stolen kisses and affirmations of love and commitment were whispered as the children slept.
I wonder if this house had been enough for them? Why did they leave? What were their parting thoughts as they turned the key for that one last time? So many questions. No answers…
I snap a photo of the old gal.
I start driving down the lonely road but take one last look in my rearview mirror. I see a house surrounded by mass plantings of flowers, a thriving garden, chickens milling about and a clothesline that has a congregation of well worn clothes that are being gently seduced by an unusually warm summer breeze. The children are playing Kick-the-can out in the fields.
The joy of their laughter is a welcome sound to their Mother and Father who are sitting together on the porch sipping lemonade and enjoying a respite from the monotony of chores. No words pass between them. They bask in the silence of their mutual contentment.
I see a house that was once brimming with life and love. It stands proud and tenacious as a testament to those who happen to pass by on this lonely country road and those who have the ears to hear the echoes of laughter wafting in the wind, proclaiming that this house was more than four walls and a roof - it was a home…
