“For Children: You will need to know the difference between Friday and a fried egg. It's quite a simple difference, but an important one. Friday comes at the end of the week, whereas a fried egg comes out of a chicken. Like most things, of course, it isn't quite that simple. The fried egg isn't properly a fried egg until it's been put in a frying pan and fried. This is something you wouldn't do to a Friday, of course, though you might do it on a Friday. You can also fry eggs on a Thursday, if you like, or on a cooker. It's all rather complicated, but it makes a kind of sense if you think about it for a while.”

Quote ― Douglas Adams, The Salmon of Doubt

Happy Fence Friday ;-))

The Reykjavik Cathedral of Christ the King or Basilica of Christ the King is the Catholic cathedral in all of Iceland. It is located in the western part of the city, in the area known as Landakot; for this reason it is also known as the church of Landakot. It was elevated to a minor basilica in 1999 by Pope John Paul II.

After many days, we would see a cement church again, although seeing this mass, without a doubt we were left with the wonderful wooden churches, colors, grass on the roofs and very small sizes.

I like to isolate myself from the world from time to time, I like to listen to my thoughts and repeat that phrase that we sometimes say "I'm fine".

I like to lose myself in the silence or in the music and redecorate those empty spaces when my desire and my dreams lose intensity.

When doubts corner me, I go to that place to remind myself that I can and always will.

Trichocereus pachanoi) — known as San Pedro cactus — is a fast-growing columnar cactus native to the Andes Mountains at 2,000–3,000 m (6,600–9,800 ft) in altitude.[2][3] It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Peru,[4][5] and it is cultivated in other parts of the world. Uses for it include traditional medicine and traditional veterinary medicine, and it is widely grown as an ornamental cactus. It has been used for healing and religious divination in the Andes Mountains region for over 3,000 years.

Blue-gray gnatcatchers are, without a doubt, one of the most special and entertaining birds the US has to offer. With a pretty sky-blue back contrasting with a paler shade of blue, along with white and black, they boast what I think is one of the more underrated color combinations when it comes to Neotropical migrants, and I’m sure they know it because they sure like to flip those tails around (kidding, that’s a foraging technique). That isn’t the only thing about them that’s underrated; males are pretty great songsters too, emitting an intricate series of what is both their own little babbles and little phrases of other species songs. I even found yesterday that they are able to mimic new vocalizations on the spot. Unfortunately, these guys have the luck of returning earlier than the warblers, and they only get two weeks of fame before what many people consider the real show falls upon our forests. That’s okay, though- they get right to pairing up and nest-building and have fledged young by the end of June, so I think they couldn’t care less about how much attention we pay to them.

Doubt thou the stars are fire;

Doubt that the sun doth move;

Doubt truth to be a liar;

But never doubt I love.

Flores de Santa Gemita - 092021-3

I was in doubt in uploading this version of "Wanna dance", but it gives more details of the pattern of the other side of my tessellation 'Play'. You can see the little twisted triangles better.

They both are folded from German wrapping paper, grid 1:64", hexagon about 33cm, finish size about 15 cm, and again slightly concaaf. I think due to the density of the pattern and the thickness of this paper.

If you are interested to see more, have a look at my tessellation album Origami - Tessellation Progression".

The 17th day brought me from Flam to Vik! A very busy day with even more very changeable weather. Rain, dark and grey in the morning, then when arriving at Stalheim suddenly clearing skies (pics later), and after that threatening skies again. Soon after I had arrived in Vik, and had put up my tent it started to rain heavily, clearing up again to give me this landscape around blue hour. What I didn't realize then was that the good days were finally over, from this day on the weather was very unstable, and forced me to look different at my surroundings to see other sorts of beauty!

It is my favourite fjord btw Sognefjord, vast/immense and great sightings! Enjoy!

Lovely valleys, bare mountains and cold winds, snow packs, glaciers, beautiful lakes, and then there are the enchanting fjords that never stop to amaze. The most beautiful country of Europe, for me no doubt about that, with only one minor aspect, which is the weather. During my month of traveling I only had 4 really nice days, the rest of the time clouds, rain, and very changeable! Still no regret, and I will go back to make even more than the 3500 pictures that I took this time.

Another very active vacation that took me to the south west up to Trondheim in a sort of triangle between Oslo- Trondheim and Bergen with the whole route visible here (www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153668247101759&set...).

The Pleasure and Pain

t's been a while since you came around

I missed you so. You know you broke me down, why

I was ready to give it one more try

Play on

While you were gone I tried to mend my heart

But I didn't know even where to start, I

Rather be with you even when we fight

I'll take all you offer,

Because it's all the same

The thorn with the flower

The pleasure and the pain

I'll climb up that mountain

Because it's you again

I can't live without it

The pleasure and the pain

I love the way that you keep it real

You're not afraid to tell me the deal and

You tell me when I'm wrong, when I'm tripping out

'Cause a man like me, needs a woman who

Who walk the wall and is a warrior too, but

With that comes the truth and there is no doubt

That I'll take all you offer,

Because it's all the same

The thorn with the flower

The pleasure and the pain

I'll climb all the mountains

Because it's you again

I can't live without it

The pleasure and the pain

I think this time we can make it trough

I'm still the me and you're still the you, the

Only difference will be within our minds

I'll take all you offer,

Because it's all the same

The thorn with the flower

The pleasure and the pain

I'll climb up that mountain

Because it's you again

I can't live without it

The pleasure and the pain

I'll take all you offer,

Because it's all the same

The thorn with the flower

The pleasure and the pain

I'll climb up that mountain

Because it's you again

I can't live without it

The pleasure and the pain

I'll take all you offer,

Because it's all the same

The thorn with the flower

The pleasure and the pain

I'll climb up that mountain

Because it's you again

I can't live without it

The pleasure and the pain

Barn Swallow The barn swallow's long, forked tail gives it that typical swallow look. Originally it built its nest on rocks or in caves, now it chooses farmyards with their 24 hours insect buffet. Its back and head are shiny blue-black, its belly cream-colored. But the best way to recognize the barn swallow is without a doubt its red-brown chin, throat and forehead. Barn swallows build their nests in accessible barns, stables and sheds. If you leave its nests intact, the migratory bird is guaranteed to return next year.

I came across the following poem when looking up snowdrops and it sums up the last week or so pretty well:

"I wonder if the sap is stirring yet,

If wintry birds are dreaming of a mate,

If frozen snowdrops feel as yet the sun

And crocus fires are kindling one by one:

Sing robin, sing:

I still am sore in doubt concerning Spring."

Christina Rossetti – from ‘ The First Spring Day’ (1830-1894) – English Poet

These snowdrops emerged on a hillside several days ago, which meant I didn't have to get down in the mud to capture an eye level view of them. They've since experienced heavy frost, snow, and rain, which left me in doubt about spring too - at least until today, which was finally warm and sunny.

Erythromma lindenii, ♂♀ Goblet-marked Damselfly

With this heart "tilted", I put an end to this miniseries of the Erythromma lindenii, a fabulous day, where the clock stops, and you travel in the cloud of joy when capturing a new species, and later when you return home , already with the doubts of, what will be his name.

We finally got significant snow in our area of the Midwest this week just in time for the holiday season.Unfortunately we also got a whole lot of cold, the worse part(-13) coming just in time for New Year's Eve and day.Be careful what you wish for is the phrase for the day I guess...

"Three Dog Night", before becoming the name of a great '60s pop rock band, was an Australian term for a very cold night.I doubt they see a whole lot of -13 degree nights down under though....

Today is a sad day for me. I lost one of my best friends. If I had to name the three best people I've met, no doubt be among the elect.

I chose this photo because it is made at the place where the employee, who spent thousands of hours in which we spent long hours chatting.

If you take a serious interest in the rich maritime history of The Netherlands, the town of Maassluis is the place for you to be. In the beautiful and picturesque heart of this old town situated on the Nieuwe Waterweg you will find the Nationaal Sleepvaart Museum (National Towage Museum). A magnificent, flourishing and fascinating institute, situated directly at the end of the Inner harbour.

This website comes with a lot of information about this tugboat museum. The Nationaal Sleepvaart Museum is the only museum in the world that is purely dedicated to towage. So, no doubt we are indeed unique.

A visit to our museum allows you to become thoroughly informed about the history and development of the Dutch towing industry in a most extensive way from 1842 until the present day.

Legendary stories aside, this stone circle stands beneath Belstone Tor in the moorland hill landscape of Dartmoor National Park. It is a cairn circle, or kerbed circle, that would have surrounded a central burial cist known on Dartmoor as a kistvaen.

Various legends or folk lore are attributed to this circle but they revolve around the idea of people having been turned to stone for dancing on a Sunday. No doubt stories told by those who wanted to frighten others to control them in order to strengthen their own position of power in society. Nothing much changes!!
