While hiking through the Texas Hill Country we came upon this very old homestead complete with a collapsing home, chicken pens and this old double seater out house. There was a fox inside with three pups under the seat. While I wanted to take their picture, I couldn't get close enough without spooking mama from her little ones.
When I heard Jeff Houck, Food Editor of The Tampa Tribune, and I would be in Las Vegas at the same time, I knew it was my duty to play matchmaker and arrange for his very first Double-Double.

Found a very human tolerant double-crested cormorant yesterday morning. I knew the inside of their mouths were blue, but seeing it IRL is stunning.
This double meteor event was confirmed by the local Astronomy club Sociedad de Astronomia del Caribe. It was captured on Nov 24 2025 at 10:14pm Local Time (Nov 25 2025 at 02:14 UTC). I met the project goals by using double exposure to achieve balance in my composition. This photo is composed of four of the same picture that I took Monday morning, of which I layered together, rotated, and adjusted in photoshop.
I first copied and pasted the original picture onto itself, changed the blending mode, and positioned the two pictures so that they looked mirrored; then, I flattened the image to create a background. I layered the original image onto the background and changed the blending mode again. I also added a layer mask to this layer so that I could eliminate the bottom of the picture, leaving only the top tree line which I moved to make the edge look echoed. For the bottom tree line I copied the layer and pasted it onto the background.
What I wanted this project to look like is what I created, so I think that achieving my goal while also exploring this style and how to put it all together is something I did well.
If I could change something about this project it would be that I’d include at least one other photo to incorporate in the finished product.

when i was younger, too young yet to ride a boke, i asked my mother why there were two yellow lines down the sides of some roads. she told me that these "double yellow lines" meant that you couldn't park your car there. when i asked why, she struggled for a moment, then told me because that was a special road for bicycles, so they knew where to go, and if you parked on them, the bikes wouldn't be able to get past.
when i had learnt to ride a bike, it took my mother some time to realise quite why, whenever i rode on the road, i always did my best to keep between the lines, despite falling over every drain hole, pedestrian and clipping the kerbs with my pedals.
the moral of the story - sometimes take parent's stories with a pinch of salt.
