Football on the park and a poster of Bananarama! My Exakta had a neat double exposure mechanism. 1982 in Wednesfield. Denville in goal and Gary looking on.

I'm feeling like death gently warmed up today (polite version). Part of the reason for feeling this way is that I was up to a totally ridiculous hour of the night, talking to a really good friend I met through flickr. There are a few things going on in the world of PYLTN at the moment, and I'm very fortunate to have this friend to talk to about "stuff". Friendship, at all sorts of different levels, has been one of the great pleasures of being part of flickr. I've never met any of the people I chat to and exchange views with, and we're separated by anything from a few miles to - in this case - annoyingly wide stretches of ocean but the friendships are very real and very welcome.

So after an extremely brief night's sleep I had to take myself off to a snug little cafe and have a double shot to help propel me though the rest of the day!

This one is very friendly to human.

Unedited shot of a biker reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

It's Monday again, and I've been working so much lately, that I've started seeing things double! That can't be a good sign...everywhere I look, I see double the people, double the bikes and double the puddles! Don't let this happen to you, don't work too much, take regular breaks, enjoy your time off, rest and relax in your weekends, don't be like me, walking around with a horrified stare, trying to understand which part of the double-vision is reality and which one is the reflection, stumbling through the streets all confused and with teary eyes, unable to get a grip on the situation at hand! If you see a seemingly lost wicked Reflectah wandering the streets of the best city in the world aimlessly, that would be me, please give me a push towards the nearest bar for a relaxing drink and a well-deserved time out from the grind, thank you :D

P.s. If you see 2 bikers in these pictures, you should arrange an appointment with your doctor, because you've been working too much too, hahaha ;-P

I've made a movie of this wicked puddle too, check it out on my YouTube channel, thank you :)

The day had started out with an early morning visit to Main St to catch the outbound Carl Sandburg only to get skunked when a brake on the train froze up at La Grange stranding it. According to the web they were going to drag the train to Downers to do a set out,and so it was back to the tracks for me even though it was all of 8 degrees out!

First train up was the westbound commuter that arrived just as I pulled up. Too bad that recent rebuild wasn't leading!

I love hydrangea - be prepared (when the rest of them come out) for many more different colours.

Apparently it depends on the soil whether acidic or alkaline which determines the colour of the plant. Just don't ask me which type of soil turns them blue and which pink :-)

Ok, I googled and seems the more acidic the soil, the bluer the bloom :-)

From a regular octagon, divided in thirds.

I finally got out in the early morning with my new macro rig and found that all those dew drops were still right where I left them years ago. The difference between a lot of the shots I took when I was building my Thousand Drops of Light set and this new shot is that this is full resolution. I took it with a Pentax Kx, a f/1.4 50mm prime, and a helicoid extension tube and used a monopod to steady it.. The grass is backlit by the sun you see sparkling in the bottom of the drops.

I dealt with some over exposure in the drop by creating three exposure variants and blending them. As you can see, the lens was not wide open but it was still a lot of light coming in via the drops themselves and their refracted image of the sun. Tough exposure.

One morning I got off work after a 13 hour graveyard shift and was met outside by a rainbow that made me forget all about being tired or any of that... I love moments like that in life, full of light and happy feelings.

On the other end of the spectrum, my laptop computer finally died, a week past Warrenty. Turns out the work they did (left it at Fry's but I think they sent it to HP) at the end of 2011 which included replacing the motherboard did NOT include replacing the Processer at the same time and that is what is fried. and that is why I have been missing in action all week!

Thanks to my bro Larry Andreasen for this laptop loaner so I can get online again, although I don't yet have any decent photo processing program that can handle my RAW images from the Rebel T2i. May be awhile before I can afford anything. At least i do have archives!

A set of unattended electric scooters excellently displayed on a beautiful day in Lincoln Park. Double parking is frowned upon in Chicago. It is when a parked vehicle gets flanked on the outside by a vehicle that is not legally parked. Usually the offender is running a quick op and they get in and out without notice. Sometimes the offender double parks for too long and trouble inevitably ensues.
