I'm reading The Dollmaker. When I was young, I watched the made for TV movie that was based on this book, and it has haunted me ever since, though I never realized the book existed. Then this summer, on the farm my father grew up on, I found the book, covered in dust and falling apart. It had been my grandmother's. I ordered a new copy (the other was really unreadable), and I have been completely taken with the strength that the main character has had in the face of so much adversity. A beautiful, heartbreaking story...such a worthwhile read...
My doll, and her little teeny doll. I'll have to look up the dollmaker's name because I've forgotten it. I know she's Australian. I just loooove being able to focus where I want to with this camera. It rocks!!!

This is the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. I made him several years ago from a pattern I fell in love with. I studied with Monika Shedden, a wonderful dollmaker. She taught me how to do all the nitty gritty techniques in making cloth dolls and then I went to town!! I made most of the "cast" of Alice in Wonderland on my own then, from my own patterns! I had a BALL!! The Hatter's HAT is a teacup, so I put a Constant Comment teabag- WITH THE TAG into the hat!! FUNNN!
Not sure if this guy counts as macro but he needed context for his tag . He is not very big to begin with! HMM

'Jan McLean is a doll-maker from Dunedin in New Zealand. She is regarded as one of the world's top dollmakers. McLean's first dolls, "Chloe" and "Phoebe" were created in 1987. By 1991, she was exhibiting at the New York Toy Fair, where her doll "Pansy" won a Dolls Award for Excellence.
Many of McLean's dolls are limited edition dolls made of porcelain, but in recent years she has expanded to produce more affordable dolls in vinyl. These - the Lollipop Girls - are smaller versions of the porcelain originals and are intended as being "upmarket competition for Barbie".' (Wikipedia)
