Doe in the woods grazing at Ft Snelling State Park, MN.

My father-in-law took me out to a deer blind and dropped me off so I could shoot some deer today. Kinda funny way to spend Christmas Eve huh?

Walking along Chemin de la Chapelle, back to the Fairmont, we saw three deer on the roadside, happily nibbling on leaves.

Isn't she pretty? I love how deer freeze when they see you. And just long enough for you to get a few pics. I think she thought i was going to shoot her though...

About 500 feet away but notice they are still wary of my presence. The fawns are growing fast. These 3 are just about ready to get into the trees.

Doe Castle one of Ireland’s few remaining fortified Gaelic tower houses, sits on the waterline of Sheephaven Bay.

Doe which is believed to have been built in the 1420s, was the home of the McSweeney Clan for almost two hundred years. The McSweeneys, originally from Scotland, were Gallowglasses or Gallóglaigh mercenaries known as 'Clan tSuibhne na dTuath' or Sweeneys of the Territory. The castle became 'Caislean na dTuath', anglicised as Doe Castle. We know of thirteen McSweeney chiefs at Doe.

One of them, Eoghan Og II, fostered the young Red Hugh O’Donnell at Doe in the 1580s and gave shelter to shipwrecked Spanish Armada sailors in 1588.

The last chief of Doe, Maolmhuire an Bhata Bhui was knighted by Elizabeth I in 1599 but subsequently fought with Red Hugh at The Battle of Kinsale in 1601. After the Irish defeat at Kinsale, Doe became an English military garrison.

In the 1640s, when Maolmhuire an Bhata Bhui’s grandson briefly regained control of Doe, a large party of veteran Irish soldiers sailed from France into Doe to lead a Gaelic uprising.

In 1905 a Gaelic Revival Festival, was led by Donegal piper Turlough McSweeney who had played at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, was held here.

Doe remained in private ownership until it was taken into government control in the 1930s.

This buck was with four does. The sun was right behind him and didn't turn out the way I wanted, but I still think it's pretty cool. This was taken right off one of the trails at cheeseboro canyon. to see other pictures and learn about my daily outings become a follower on my blog

Doe Maar - Paaspop (Schijndel) 15/04/2017

I try to grow dear-resistant plants, but somehow they manage to find something to snack on.

Ok...I know I have been taking a lot of shots of the deer, but this duo just stood on the other side of the pond and posed for us on our early morning photo Safari today.

Couldn't resist.

We also roused the doe with twins...they were totally not prepared for intruders so early in the morning and were in great disarray.

We did see all the herons, and tried hard to spot the otter, but he was too quick for more than a quick glimpse.

Tomorrow I will try for a 6:30 start, but the birds seem ready to move with the sun. Maybe if I sit still at the pond, they can all come to me.

The fawn are almost fully grown! I remember when she first brought them around and they still had the reddish color with spots. Soon they will go off on their own, although doe sometimes herd together.

I think this is one of many offspring of three-legged doe on our hillside who survived three winters here, beginning 2013–14, but went messing ca. April–July 2016. Striking here: this doe too appears to have but three legs (just an illusion).

Exhibition work in Finland; during the early days of my career.

The idea was to trigger thoughts on why people are worth more or less and when we are pulled out of our identity whether value {dollar amounts} matters at all.
