In my garden Stafford UK 2nd April 2026

Derelict Hydraulic Tower & Engine House located between Alfred & East Float Docks Birkenhead Wirral. Provided power to move bridges & lock gates for over 90 years up until the late 1950s. Built in 1863 the design based on the Palazzo Vecchio building in Florence Italy. There were plans to restore the structure but these have been shelved due to cost, but as part of the docks history demolition is not an option.

Cormorant passing through the reflection of the ventilation tower in Canning dock, Liverpool.

A picnic is set up on the dock between the boats with the Long Beach Lighthouse in the background.

A lovely sunny Autumn day at Gloucester Docks.

Salthouse Dock, Liverpool.

This was taken back in '09 (even though flickr says otherwise) when I went to Europe with my school. This was at the docks in Veneto going to take the boat to Venice. The picture would have been better but I had a really bad camera :S

The Main Street Docks in Vancouver harbours police boats, fire boats, port service vessels and such.

Stronachlachar Pier on Loch Katrine

As a kid I fished off these docks. Call me a scavenger just like the seaguls. My uncle would always have a fit as I'd be the one leaning over too far, or anxiious to get more fish than the rest. The sea has always given me peace. The sound, smell, and the change in the air is like a sedative. I could sit an be mezmorized for hours. :) HSS all!

An old dock that has been neglected for years, shows obvious signs of decay. This dock has given way to new and modern floating docks instead.

Gotta Dock Leaf Bug in m' wheel barrer. Wot's up Doc, why don't yer fly out?

At Inga Lake, BC out on a floating dock trying to keep real still...

playing around with concepts for a docking bay

Taken before the sunrise really kicked off here.

Some great reflections to be had in the basin at Albert Dock in Leith.

I would love to take a look in the old derelict building across the water.

Taken on a foggy night, I captured these lovely reflections in the Albert Dock.

08375 propels a rake of steel wagons over the swing bridge and into the Boston Docks complex. The wagons arrived on 6E01 from Wolverhampton, worked by a DB Cargo 66 as far as the exchange sidings just off the mainline at Boston where the 08 takes over. Not many places this kind of work happens nowadays! 12/02/2024

February 2019

Millwall Docks taken during the winter heatwave of February 2019. Although this was taken at 8:30am in the morning the light was already becoming too strong, however the docks were perfectly still hence the clarity of the reflections. Buildings featured here are Ability Place, One Canada Square, Pan Peninsula, South Quay Plaza and One Park Drive under construction, and Baltimore Tower on the right.

View of Liverpool's Albert Dock, once a bustling part of this great port in the north west of England, now a thriving area for leisure activities, the waterside is lined with cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops.

A view taken in Malmö, where the docks are. There are many new and stylish buildings, and other nice things to see. The sunny weather also helped to make the photos better

Happy New Year

Another shot on the walk around the Docks, with the midweek explorers, thanks Judy

Dock by Lake Leslie in Quebec.

Watching the sun setting while fishing at the dock

Looking over part of Atlin Lake towards Atlin Mountain. In the mid foreground, a breakwater and pilings cast their reflections on the quiet surface. further in the distance, ice still obscures the lake surface all the way to the far side.
