The lifesize sculpture of London dockworkers was sculpted by Les Johnson, and erected in 2009. The Docklands area in which it stands is now a prestigious exhibition and business community.

Spent part of the afternoon out at our friend Liam's place. We got to enjoy the company of new friends and eat some great Chili. It was a lovely time!
Hertfordshire Railtours "The Mersey Docker" passes through Reddish South behind class 45/1 locomotive 45128 (D113), this tour had originated from London Euston and covered some lines that are just not there today or are totally impassable due to vegetation growth.
Reddish South itself is now a single track platform, the line on the left now lifted and along with that sees 1 train a week, a Parliamentary or Ghost train that runs once a week (May 2015) on a Friday at 09.22 from Stockport in one direction only.
New to Derby as D113 on 19/8/61 withdrawn from Tinsley 4/89 cut up 03/92 by MC Metals Glasgow

Surprisingly (or not) diesel-powered services are still operated 'under the wires' of the West Coast Main Line, for now at least. Passing over the attractive setting of Docker Garth's Viaduct is Voyager units 221103 and 221116 operating 9M52 08:52 Edinburgh - Euston.
Just a reminder that Virgin Rail were the operator along here for many years.
Here is a Pendo heading north just after 10.00 in their distinctive livery.
'Royal Scot' class 4-6-0 No.46115 'Scots Guardsman' speeds over Docker Garth viaduct, high above Flodder Beck heading the 1Z86 London Euston to Carlisle 'Cumbrian Mountain Express' charter on Saturday 8th March 2014. Indulgence on my part by removing the overhead wires and masts. A touch of artistic licence, but it does look so much better. Another one for my personal compilation of 'West Coast without Wires'.

On this dull morning the next Freight to pass was the Freightliner working from Hardendale Works near Shap Summit.
Freightliner's 66601 is crossing Docker Viaduct with 6H51, Hardendale - Tunstead, with empty box wagons on the 6th September 2017 at 1154
Annual winter visit to Docker today - and possibly last as rumour has it the farmer is now in "shouting, screaming and jumping up-and-down" mode when confronted with a field full of spotters. Didn't see him, but have no desire to be confronted by a pitchfork wielding angry farmer and his large dog - and there are only so many shots you can do here anyway.
The day starts with Avanti West Coast "Pendolino" 390005 crossing Docker with the 07.07 Birmingham New Street - Glasgow Central.

I took a picture of something I love. I love these Dockers sweaters. Here they are hanging in my closet on a plastic hangar. I got the red one for Christmas, and I think I wore it for about four days straight.
The first anniversary demo made up mostly of men over 50, women and children was confronted by heavy over policing.

A quick call-in at this popular spot, especially now that the view has been opened-up by vegetation clearance. Nothing special today, just 390043 working 9S44 06:43 Euston - Glasgow Central over Docker Garth's Viaduct on 1 March 2022.

Here you go Billy ...
The Victoria Tower, Salisbury Dock, by Jesse Hartley, is dated 1848.
It is constructed of irregular shaped granite blocks and takes the
form of an octagon with a high tapered circular base which is pierced
by round arched openings. Above the base is a string moulding and
narrow slits at the first floor below a continuous balcony carried on
stone brackets. Higher again are eight circular clock faces and long
open slits and round eyes at the top. The tower is crowned by a
projecting castellated parapet carried on corbels.
This spectacular piece of showmanship was primarily a handsome clock
and bell tower, not only giving time to neighbouring docks and arriving
and departing ships, but also ringing out high tide and warning notes.
Local folklore is that it was built by French prisoners from the Napoleonic
Wars, but as the wars had ended 29 years before the tower was designed,
this seems unlikely ...

Bobby Hagen was a Boatman, not a docker, but he couldn't cross a picket line and attended the picket till the end.
Great bloke and many peoples favourite photo.
Today I met Finja. :) <33
We had such a nice day and went to some fields and the "Elbe" (the river that flows through my hometown) and took lots of Photos. The lighting was just as bad as yesterday but I nevertheless we got some nice Photos like this and the one in comments. ;)
I think I'll upload some others of today sometime. c;
390115 still has its Virgin badge, but is otherwise devoid of all branding (although has gained the name "Alison" under the cab window) as it heads over Docker Viaduct with the 07.30 Euston - Glasgow Central, running 16 minutes late.
Are Avanti West Coast doing an Eddie Stobart and letting drivers name units after their wives, girlfriends or "significant others"? And will we see one called "Butch"?
