Progress for my big hotel build. This is the top floor of the skyscraper, which will include the bar, a lounge, and an observatory. Waiting for more tiles to come in to finish this floor up.
In honor of #memorialday 🇺🇸 yesterday we are posting our photo of the former Navy Yard Cocktail Lounge ⚓️ in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. This #divebar was in business from 1907 to 2010. Steve Frankel, who owned the business since 1999, lost his lease when the building was sold to a developer. The #cocktail 🍸lounge originally served the tens of thousands of Brooklyn Navy Yard personnel who worked in the shipbuilding industry, and later catered to the workers in the many industrial businesses and film and television studios, which have rented spaces at the revitalized Navy Yard industrial park. Photo from 2008 appears in our recently published book, "Store Front II- A History Preserved". #storefront #disappearingfaceofnewyork #signgeeks #tv_retro #tv_typography #jj_texttypographical #memorialdayweekend #signcollective #typevstime #jj_doorsandwindows#myfeatureshoot #Mashpics #signofgrime

The Desert Inn and Restaurant (also known as Wilson's Corner) is a historic site in Yeehaw Junction, Florida, United States. It is located at 5570 South Kenansville Road, next to SR 60. On January 3, 1994, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
In the 1930's, the spot was originally named "Jackass Crossing," a reference to the burros that ranchers rode to Desert Inn.
As early as 1889, the Desert Inn was a bar room and brothel for cowboys and lumber workers. The Desert Inn also didn't install full-service water and electricity till 1978.
Throughout the years, the Desert Inn has been a trading post, gas station, and dance hall. In 1994, after being added to the National Register of Historic Places, the unused rooms about the restaurant were converted into a modest museum that featured a bordello suite with red carpet, lace pillows and a swing.

The Patriot Saloon on Chambers Street in Lower Manhattan has sadly closed its doors. This dive bar was known for its old jukebox with country music on rotation and its bartender girls dancing on the bar as well as lots of bras decorating the interior behind the bar and draped on the light fixtures. We are not sure of the exact reasons for its closure but a decline in business due to the pandemic surely factored in.

Just past the glass and steel highrises and surrounded by tents sits Bar Bar, Denver's self-proclaimed best dive bar. It is a glorious thing that they can remain in business. Regrettably, we were unable to visit during our trip - apparently some renovations were going on, and it was closed.
