I hadn't visited this tavern in years. It's a small, family-owned joint that caters to locals and working folks. It would probably qualify as a dive; there's no juke box, but there are a couple of gambling machines. The food is simple and basic, but generally good solid working class fare (although there was a guy at the bar eating a giant chef's salad). The drinks are inexpensive. It's a tad shabby, but it appears they've recently installed a few stations to charge your cell phone.
It's the sort of place where you're expected to drink your drink and eat your food and not make a fuss. If you don't finish your food, they'll hand you some foil and a paper bag and you can damn well wrap it up your ownself.
I love this place.

I was going back through my RAW images and decided to work this one up to go along with the other shot I took of this dog in the bar. I love how oblivious he is to everything around him; sort of like Dirty Frank's is his own personal Bodhi Tree.
*Somehow* I have 377 pictures from a road trip to Chicago & Wisconsin that I took with a friend in May 2013... that never got posted.

Former boxer, trainer, manager and cutman Jimmy Glenn operated the small dive bar at 140 W. 44th St. from 1971 until his death from COVID-19 at age 89 in 2020. The walls were lined with boxing posters, memorabilia and photographs, and a jukebox filled with Stax artists' recordings.

It had a beer sign. But the place had no name. But apparently it is now called La Ventanita. I really dont think it was called that when I was there. I think this place is also known as Sideshow.
