A nice mature Bald Eagle executes a rapid dive past me. I like how the body was nicely illuminated for this capture.

Taken 20 March 2022 near Homer, Alaska.

My best diving shot to date of a young Kingfisher. Iso was at 12800 so I had to work hard on this edit. Had to try and keep the shutter speed slower.

A day out photographing Kingfishers. Weather was nice but light variable.

Great to watch these guys prepare there acrobatics and get into the dive pose, very thrilling.

Still got a few shots of this falcon to post so posting 3 today I just got this guy in the far corner but liked it too much even though its out of frame I think it works I have removed Jesses & transmitter in all these shots

I would just like to say why do people act like sheep on here ok if you don't like this shot fair enough each to their own I see so many images on here that are quite frankly awful yet they get lots of comments faves ..that doesn't bother me really but if a person sees a shot not getting comments or faves then most people copy that yes this is out of frame but its a great shot and works in a artistic crop there has been award winning shots that are only just in frame sorry I had to say that if you don't like it please unfollow me.

Well the light was simply terrible but I kind of think this works. This Great Crested Grebe was just in the act of diving for its dinner as I snapped so what with the light and its speed as it entered the water....... I leave it up to you. I know it is grainy but I like it.

This image isn't intended to decieve. It was taken at a site where the birds have been fed for the last 15 years or so. Their normal feeding trough is replaced with one made with transparent optically plano sides to allow photography. There are rubber covers over all exposed edges and black sealant is used so the birds can clearly see the edge of the trough. The gravel allows the birds to see the bottom. Its quite an incredible thing to witness almost too quick for the human eye to see. Interesting how they dive with their third eye lid closed and beak open then turn under water and power back to the surface. This is all done using natural light. It may not be the sharpest photo as the water softens things and the little air pocket trapped around the birds feathers looks a little strange but it was an incredible experience.

A second visit to photograph the Kingfishers at the end of April. The day started overcast with very light rain. But the brightened up slightly.

At last I managed to catch a Kingfisher Diving. Unfortunately on this dive it was not successful.

Kingfishers are small unmistakable bright blue and orange birds of slow moving or still water. They fly rapidly, low over water, and hunt fish from riverside perches, occasionally hovering above the water's surface.

Only the male Kingfisher was seen throughout the day. But it was returning regularly to catch fish where it would dive and catch a fish for itself and then dive and catch a second fish before flying off.

I've darkened the photo to show the effects of the sun reflecting on it as it surfaced from the water. I haven't added any extra colours.
