Mummies of Ancient Eggypt: Rediscovering 6 Lives

From July 14 to October 26, the CaixaForum Madrid cultural space hostsed an exhibition made up of a collection of objects on loan from the British Museum in London, which explores the idea of mummification and analyzes the testimony of six people who lived in the Ancient Egypt.

This sample contains six mummies of people who lived between 900 and 150 BC. C. in Egypt. Thus, through a non-invasive investigation carried out with the most modern technology, the discoveries that have been achieved by the hand of these specimens are exhibited.

Through scientific and historical evidence, it is possible to observe what life was like in these lands, the tools and techniques used for mummification, the medicinal recipes with which they were cured, the diet of those people, cosmetics and adornments, music, cultural exchanges and even the role of women and children in the Egypt of the pharaohs.

Mummification became a common practice in ancient Egypt, believing that the body had to be preserved in order to reach the afterlife. For them death was just the beginning and this represented the separation between the body and the soul.

The first mummies are dated between 4000 and 3000 BC. C. and it is thought that this practice could have come from accidentally unearthing some corpses, which had dried due to the heat of the desert. By keeping much of their physical appearance, they tried to manually mimic this preservation. In this way, they dried the deceased by extracting the viscera from the body and then dehydrated them with natron and embalmed them.

The complete set of all dolls in the 2015 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection, Heroes and Villains series. They placed side by side in their display cases, with the slipcovers off. They are in the order in which they were placed in the shipping carton. They are in front of my KidKraft Snowflake Mansion, with the Disney Parks Snow Queen Elsa small figurine doing her presentation gesture at the top of the staircase.

My pre-ordered full set of the 2015 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection Heroes and Villains dolls arrived after a delay on November 6, 2015. I had ordered them at the D23 Expo on August 14, 2015. They are all edition number of 65 of 6000. They came in perfect condition, and I think most if not all the dolls are better than the ones I bought separately (which I have deboxed or will debox). By the way, I got 5 gift bags in this shipment, and got another 5 in a separate shipment. So like most people who pre-ordered the full collection, I am getting twice as many bags as I should have.

Here are my first photos of the set, taken with flash. They were taken in front of my KidKraft Snowflake Mansion. I will later take photos of my deboxed Designer dolls next to these dolls, which I will leave boxed. But before I do that I will have to debox the Rapunzel and Mother Gothel set and the Snow Queen Elsa and Hans set.

One delight of Montreal communities is dropping in to a neighbourhood grocery store. There are many independent shops with beautiful interiors and offerings with great service. This would be one shop in Little Italy near Marché Jean-Talon.

The department is on the third floor of the main branch of the Philadelphia Free Library. There are several rooms such as these each with case after case of rare and unusual books. The cases down the centers of the galleries are used to display items from the collection, The displays are changed monthly and allow one to get up close to some really wonderful pieces. There are several old tall case clocks as well, all in working order. It's a swell place to visit.

A portfolio of my work is being featured at TIP-C – The Indian Photo Chat group. It’s run by a very talented group of photographers and is a great place to discuss tricks, techniques, tips and technology related to photography. Do feel free to join in the discussion (you'll need to join the group to post).

Lineup of all five doll sets in the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection, both boxed and deboxed. On the bottom are the dolls of the pre-ordered complete collection, all numbered #12 of 6000, except for Snow White, who is #4508 of 6000. They are all in their original, boxed condition, except for Ariel and Eric, who I have tidied up a bit, without disturbing the factory shipping restraints. Stacked above them are a second copy of the doll sets, that have been completely deboxed by me, then replaced in their display stands, but in improved poses. Because Flynn's doll stand is almost directly behind Rapunzel's, I have him free standing to the left of Rapunzel in order to make him more visible, and have him in a closer more intimate pose with her. The deboxed dolls were purchased separately from the Disney Store. The Jasmine and Ariel sets were bought online, so I had to wait about a week to receive them through the mail. The others were bought at a local Disney Store on release day.

Following are the dates that I bought/received the dolls, and their edition numbers.

Snow White and the Prince Doll Set (August 9/October 15, #4508 of 6000; August 20, #558)

Rapunzel and Flynn Rider Doll Set (August 9/October 15, #12; September 3, #2411)

Jasmine and Aladdin Doll Set (August 9/October 15, #12; September 18/26, #899)

Belle and the Beast Doll Set (August 9/October 15, #12; October 1, #4754)

Ariel and Eric Doll Set (August 9/October 15, #12; October 16/25, #1145)

I took this Photograph of a Whole Lot of Coca Cola Signs and Memorabilia in a Display Case at the World of Coca Cola Museum in Atlanta, Georgia. This is similar to the previous Photograph, except it it is shifted further to the Right Side of the Display Case, Notice the Large Coke bottle on the extreme Left Side of this Photograph. This same Coke Bottle appears in the Center of the previous Photograph. Notice the Price on that Coca Cola Sign was 5 Cents

I didn't remove the Spot Light Reflection that appears on the Woman's Hair in the Top Left Center because It was would have been somewhat more difficult than removing it from the previous Photograph. Also, you will notice my reflection, in two places, at the Bottom Left Side of this Photograph.

DISCLAIMER: This Photograph was a Tough One to touch up in Photoshop Elements 10 because of the Reflections on the Glass Display Case and and numerous reflections from the Florescent Lights and Spot Lights in the Ceiling. I spent a few hours fixing the most of the reflects, this Photograph was much more difficult to clean up. Some of the remaining Reflections, such as the two Reverse Circular Coco Cola Logos in the center of the Photograph actually add to my Presentation.
