Unlike a DVD or CD, this thing usually comes in a protective cover (like with a floppy disk, any of you remember those?), and it has this bit in the middle instead of a plain hole.

This is indeed an eight-inch floppy disk from 2-21-81, according to the label. Contents (also according to label): "CASHHIST"
Anyone have an 8-inch disk drive laying around you don't need?
Osborne 1 and 1A machines use disk drives with Osborne electronics. The power and data is carried over the same 34 pin connector and ribbon cable, there is no separate power connector. This home-made adapter routes the data signals to a conventionally-wired 34 pin header and the power to a 4 pin plug so that normal disk drive test instruments can be used with these drives.
