Crap! I overtightened the nuts holding the heating barrel to the retaining disc, and cracked the acrylic in 3 places.
Not willing to accept defeat, we sandwiched the disc between a couple of layers of thin plastic and went crazy with the crazy glue.
The finished project is shown here. Ugly as sin, but functional.
Didn't go out this evening, but instead sorted through a few photos. Taken a lot recently.
Got me thinking about how big these photo's are and how big hard drives have got. . Each one I take is around 15MB in size. My first hard drive on my first PC was 40 MB in size. So it would only hold 2 of my photos !
My latest is 1.5 TB, and is physically smaller than that on in my first PC and yet it hold nearly 40,000 times as much ! . - how does that work then ?!
*disclaimer - my maths may be waaay out here :D
We went over a half-finished Disk 'piece because we were doing a joiner with Keen and Robbo.
It's never nice to have to do that but when Disk turned-up he was really cool and started on this.
Thank you Bobby Disko.
As I mentioned in one of my previous posts featuring the Kodak EK160-EF, when Kodak were forced to discontinue that camera around 1983, they offered customers the chance to trade it in for one of THESE! The Kodak Disk 4000.
As it's name suggests the camera takes 'Disk film', which was a boxed film containing a circular plate with 15 10x8mm exposures that rotates as each shot is fired. As you can probably tell this format wasn't particularly successful and proved quite challenging to process, which led to production finally being ceased in 1999.
This camera carried an f/2.8 12.5mm lens with a built in flash unit, housed in a brushed metal housing. A fun fact about this camera, the battery is enclosed within the camera and could not be replaced?! This one still works! © Carbootography 2017

USB flash disk jako kreditní karta. Velká plocha pro reklamu, možnost oboustranného i plnobarevného potisku.
Rayed disk. One of original shots in an HDR set - 0 exposure bias shot of 5 shot bracketed burst. See HDR result from the set this image is from. Direct sunlight on heavily varnished rock causes glare that makes the glyph difficult to see in the photo.
So, this is an opened iPod's Mini-HD.
It's really, really, really small; the whole thing is few inches long and the platter inside is really, really tiny.
What actually impressed me was how easy was getting inside. I once tried to open a normal Hard Disk and the screws were thight as HELL; this time, the real problem with this hd's screws was only their shape... You'll see later :D
This car can be spotted on the streets of West Seattle from time to time. It is covered in old floppy disks, keyboard keys and processors. It's very ... imaginative.
