Second shipment - rusty, scored, greasy rotors, not described. The closer pair were cleaned up using spray brake parts cleaner and a rag. The left one of the upper pair, first shipment, show evidence of a half-hour's work with brake parts cleaning fluid and a Scotch scrubber pad.
They strung me along with empty promises until the dispute period expired, then ignored my pleas. More fool me, but that makes them thieves, doesn't it?
(Someone asked for an update: It's been two years or more. The point was: Even such high-volume and highly-regarded sellers can be rats from time to time. If they have something you want, at a price you like, it will probably be a problem-free transaction, but don't be surprised if there is something wrong, and do your objection and claims routines early. Don't let them run out the dispute period, as I did.
Matter of fact, I have something coming from them tomorrow (03 June 2009). We'll see how it develops ...)
(A week later: This one was perfect: excellent price, careful packing, timely delivery of an item that is exactly as advertised. I guess every one is a gamble; win a couple, lose a couple.)
Some old hard disk I had with me. This one is maxtor 10GB..finally I Found the star-screwdriver that can open this thing.. :)
Preparing for a move I took time to discard a lot of old things we don't use anymore. 3.5 inch floppy disks were part of the lot. I just saved these. Maybe to be able to tell my grand-children that I was there! ;-)

Standing next to the laser cutter, Professor Carolyn Kuranz (right) and Sallee Klein, Senior Engineer in Research discuss using a 355 nm UV laser cutter to to cut metals up to about 100 μm thick and use them in their experimental targets for high-energy laser experiments that will study how radiation affects the evolution of a strong shock wave, which is relevant to phenomenon occurring in accretion disks and inertial confinement fusion systems.
The target is a few millimeters in size with individual features that are 10s of
micrometers in size.
Carolyn Kuranz is the Director, Center for Laboratory Astrophysics and Associate Professor, Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences and Applied Physics at the University of Michigan.
Professor Kuranz is an experimental plasma physicist with research interests in high-energy-density plasmas, hydrodynamic instabilities, radiation hydrodynamics, and magnetized plasmas. She performs her research on high-power laser facilities around the world, including the National Ignition Facility and the Omega Laser Facility at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics in Rochester, NY.

My Macintosh Classic running "naked" with drives popped out and connected. The Floppy Drive is dead and I have to replace it with another drive. Too bad I've got no more Auto Injection drives so I have to use Manual Injection drives, which makes inserting floppies harder than ever. Now I regret for damaging the drive carelessly...
A front Brake Disc with heat spots and run out that causes noises, brake pedal and steering wheel shudder during braking.
Not for long though. Out comes the PFM900 On Car Brake Lathe
I have made a Photo movie DVD with more than 500 photos that I have taken.
I showed the photo movie for mothers of the dance school member. Everyone asked me to give the DVD, so I'm copying some more disks.

Pen holders are useful, and for the first time in almost 10 years floppy disks are too.
This version is made using glue to stick 5 disks together. Another version on Instructables uses a drill and cable ties.
Even girl geeks deserve a personalized floppy. This one is for Susie. She's hung it up at her desk at work. She works for a gaming company so can't take pictures of it in situ, but she is now the envy of the office (queen of the geeks!).

500 MB IDE drive platters from an old Compaq server.
Whilst recycling an old Compaq server, I thought some of the parts needed to be recorded in history. This is one of the pictures.
If anyone knows any background about the item, please send me a comment.
Photo taken with a Canon 30D in Auto mode. The lens was a 18-55 mm and and the item was placed into a light tent.
