Macro Mondays: "Trash"

The trash from dinner tonight. A steak tray, fresh vegetable, and yogurt for dessert.

The image is about 6.35 cm (2.5 inches) on the long edge.

Dinner with Heidi was shot on the water with Nikon d750 mounted on tripod under the patio Umbrella. The table was set up on a large rock just below the surface. Chicken, potatoes dinner was made and eaten on the water. One of my best dinners ever.

Sunday dinner made by my amazing wife Claudia

An impulsive shot - just happened to have the camera to hand and thought the lighting, unusually dim from just a single low-powered sidelight, was interesting.

Grey Heron Ardea cinerea

The Grey Heron is a long-legged predatory wading bird of the heron family, Ardeidae, native throughout temperate Europe and Asia and also parts of Africa. It is resident in much of its range, but some populations from the more northern parts migrate southwards in autumn. A bird of wetland areas, it can be seen around lakes, rivers, ponds, marshes and on the sea coast. It feeds mostly on aquatic creatures which it catches after standing stationary beside or in the water or stalking its prey through the shallows.

[Dinner for One, also known as The 90th Birthday (German: Der 90. Geburtstag), is a two-hander comedy sketch written by British author Lauri Wylie for the theatre. German television station Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) recorded a performance of the piece in 1963, in its original English language, with a short introduction in German. It is a 18-minute single-take black-and-white recording featuring British comedians Freddie Frinton and May Warden. This comedy sketch went on to become the most frequently repeated TV programme ever.

Corn, tofu & black bean enchiladas served with corn bread and jalapeno jelly. **LOL - This photo apparently made it into Explore. Ok. =DDD

When visiting a puffin colony, the first images are always simply the puffins. After that one becomes pickier and seeks out the puffins with beaks full of tiny fish, which they are bringing home to their burrows for their young ones. Ultimately, one seeks out the birds in flight with the "goods" ... so stay tuned for more.

Atlantic Puffins are absolutely amazing creatures ... so colorful, comical, agile in flight ... not to mention speedy little demons too. It was both a thrill and an honor to be able to have spent time photographing them on our recent trip to Iceland. Check that one off my photography "bucket list". :-)

Hope that you enjoy this image, as well as your upcoming week.

Thanks for looking!

Two hares enjoying their dinner together

The #MacroMondays theme for Monday 11/18 is #vegetables and my DD was cooking some up for tonight’s dinner, so I took a couple of pictures of the contents of the pan. Check out the tiny corn cob!!.. It’s all colorful in this fill-the- frame shot, right?

Btb, I do not have an actual size verification this week bc I was loathe to stick an iffy ruler into the pan, so you’re just going to have to trust me - the teeny tiny corn cob 🌽 in its whole wonderfulness was really under one inch and this was only a part of it!!

Obviously I wasn't expected for dinner by this Swamp Wallaby, so I did not insist on having a bite and turned back home.

WIT: At this time of day, I prepare for dinner - Green onions for Chinese noodle soup. Set the camera up on a tripod, and tilted down, put on the timer, and with my mis en place, started cutting. Nothing much in post, just a bit of a crop and cloned out a tripod leg part.

Omg I just made a huge mess of this so I am starting over ... I accidentally deleted my whole first post....:((((((.

This is my second table posting ...Normally I would wait till a holiday such as Thanksgiving or a FLickr Milestone but those who know me best know I cherish my friendships. I saw a posting in here the other day that simply said "Oceans separate land, not people." Now that is not verbatim but it struck a chord with me because we are truly so blessed in here to have our lives touched at times by amazing postings, or pictures by those we hold dear or friendships that are growing ... things that just stop us in our tracks from people all over the world. So this got me to thinking ... how truly fun it would be to sit and "sup" (old school for share dinner) with those that give us a smile, or make us stop and think at the wonder of the art we see. I can only imagine the lively conversation about the fabulous sims we have visited, or our hair pulling times with Photo Shop as we figure out a new technique only forget how it even happened the next time we want to use it ...lol. Anyways .. I truly have been blessed so much in here Flickr and SL ..and simply say ..please join me .. sit and share an amazing dinner, glass of wine ..or if you look carefully (shhhhhj) a great cold glass of beer ..lol. Thank you all for the support, the fav's, the postings you share that make us smile and just want to visit sims we see....See you here ... pull up a chair ..:)))))))

I was going to find this table and put up a scene of my own but after being here at Luane's I cannot even imagine coming up with a more beautiful set....

Dinner is Served - Adult female Belted Kingfisher with prey. Not sure exactly what the fish was, but looked like some sort of sunfish. The heavy rains and flooding have caused the river to swell, and the kingfishers were enjoying good hunting. A tight crop, but my first prey shot with this species.

Species: Belted Kingfisher (Megaceryle alcyon)

Location: Santa Clara County, CA, USA

Equipment: Canon EOS R5 + EF 100-400mm IS II + EF 1.4x III Extender

"Thank you very much for all your faves"

The image is not a very good one, but I had to post it. This commorant got his dinner and believe it or not he got it down. These birds are amazing. I have seen images where humans have trained these birds to go fish for them. I call them the little submarine birds because the swim underwater.

A Lady butterfly, it never opened its wings so I could see which one, and a stink bug.

I love the positive energy here. I was on my way to dinner with friends at a French bistro in the loop and life was pretty good.

And then everything changed.

Taken in January, 2020.

It was with thanks to my eagle-eyed youngest daughter at the dinner table that I was able to get this shot of a Greater-Spotted Woodpecker in the back garden. I've been able to hear him tapping away a few doors down the road for weeks now, with just the occassional visit to us. Earley, Reading, Berkshire, UK.
