365 Project: A Prompt A Day 2011
14/365
I took this photo a day late. I had this idea yesterday, but because of the snow days we had this week, my husband has been working way into the night. He normally gets off at 9ish, but to make up for the work they missed Monday and Tuesday, he's not been getting home until after 11 (he goes in around 4).

Unseasonably warm evening for mid-September, so some people still dining outside restaurants while they can (most prefer this to being indoors, even with social distancing etc). Quick, rough handheld shot on walk home from late work shift tonight.
The Zedel Brasserie is a beautifully decorated restaurant just behind Piccadilly Circus. We successfully negotiated the menu that was in French only with the help of Linda who speaks the language and then we enjoyed a very fine meal. The waiting staff were numerous and attentive although the young lady looking after us, and who took this photo of us, did struggle a little as at times we were addressed as madam and at other times as sir. To be honest I did not detect any malice I just think we were probably the first tgirls she had looked after and she was getting a little muddled.
We moved the dining table next to the window. And new Be Yourself print finally on the wall! blogged here

The Dining Car (The Cabot) is a first class experience. The car was built in 1928 and was used by CNR as a Colonist Car, transporting new immigrants and war brides across the country from Pier 21 - Halifax. It found its new home in 2001, & since then has been refurbished into a dining car. It is open daily for lunch & dinner, mid May through mid October. Private event bookings and reservations are welcome.
Food here is suppose to be terrific, I have to try it next time.
This was mostly two ambient frames blended together (lighter one for the right side and darker one for the left), plus a flashed frame which was used to control some of the more extreme highlights (wish I'd controlled them a bit more :)
The light in this space was pretty good, but also pretty uneven...darkish on the right and extremely hot/blown around the window. Tried bouncing a little flash from the coved ceiling left/right of camera, but I couldn't get it to not look flashy, hence the decision to blend two ambient frames together. I do wish I could have gotten a little more light into the right corner, where the pillows are.
This was shot for the interior designer and the builder. They wanted a bright look, not shadow-y or moody (I'm glad we had that conversation, because I'd have definitely gone in a less-bright direction for this space, and for the kitchen as well, which is through the doorway to the right). Hoping I achieved what they were looking for. I'm never quite sure. Thoughts on this?
It could use a little more floor and less ceiling...
Feedback/suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks!

The doves don't get a lot of respect! That's what happens when things become common: we value rarity. But I really like the blue eye liner and, even though they do frighten away some of the more skittish birds, for the most part they play well with others.
Best viewed large!
Seemingly a very contented meal. I loved the sound of the grass being chomped.
