I did this piece in my Year 10 Mock Exam. It is based on Operation Chastise. Operation Chastise, commonly known as the Dambusters Raid, was an attack on German dams carried out on the night of 16/17 May 1943 by 617 Squadron RAF Bomber Command, later called the Dam Busters, using special "bouncing bombs" developed by Barnes Wallis. The Möhne and Edersee dams were breached, causing catastrophic flooding of the Ruhr valley and of villages in the Eder valley; the Sorpe Dam sustained only minor damage. Two hydroelectric power stations were destroyed and several more damaged. Factories and mines were also damaged and destroyed. An estimated 1,600 civilians – about 600 Germans and 1,000 enslaved labourers, mainly Soviet – were killed by the flooding. Despite rapid repairs by the Germans, production did not return to normal until September. The RAF lost 56 aircrew, with 53 dead and 3 captured, amid losses of 8 aircraft.

For digital platform workers, considered to be essential in many countries, the COVID-19 outbreak increased their vulnerability and lack of protection. The silver lining: with decent work, the pandemic could drive a positive digital transformation. Buenos Aires, Argentina, 12 February 2021. Photo: Martín González Caplan/ILO

Anthem For The Broken Ones

Set Them Free:

02/20

Eu tento, tento com toda minha destreza

Que questiono os motivos de falhar... Sutilmente... As vezes

É mais fácil na teoria do que na prática...

Libertar esses medos... de mim.

I try, I try with all my dexterity

I question the reasons for failure ... Subtly ... Sometimes

It's easier in theory than in practice ...

Release these fears ... from me

2024-05-11 -- Each May during WashU commencement weekend, the College of Architecture and Graduate School of Architecture & Urban Design host the year-end exhibition (Y.E.S.) of graduate and undergraduate work. Y.E.S. is curated by students, who submit proposals in the fall and are selected by the exhibitions committee. The winning teams receive a monetary prize and a budget to mount the exhibition.

Cody Heller, MArch ’24, won the graduate competition with his intriguing box-within-a-box exhibition design. Jiahe Jin, BS ’25; Nuo Xu, BS ’26; and Yiwei Shi, BS ’26 won the undergraduate competition for their “Projected Folds” proposal.
