While many people around the world are now watching their gardens grow and looking ahead to harvest time - we in remote Alaska are watching the grasses on the forest floor change from summer greens, to browns, as they wither away and die. A sure sign that we are in the early stages of autumn. (Best viewed large)
I like the following descriptive quote regarding fall . . .
“It looked like the world was covered in a cobbler crust of brown sugar and cinnamon.”

A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms.
- Zen Shin
( I am so starved for color at this time of year, and I can't wait to see the first wildflower poke it's little head up in the forest, and greet me with a color other than winter white. I will tread lightly so as not to destroy any potential blooms in my path. I have a tremendous reverence for the flora and fauna in my boreal forest. It is the beauty of nature that feeds my soul. )
Initially I contemplated a minimalist approach with just the bird on the lamp post... but going through my images of water reflections I felt this is a good fill for the negative space.

An old manipulation that never got posted. Have you ever had a dream of being chased and no matter how fast you run, you just can't run fast enough? I usually try to wake myself up when I have a dream like this.
Have a great weekend and sweet dreams dear friend!

This old barn is up to its neck in snow, and waits patiently for spring to arrive.
I photographed the barn early this morning, after another night of snowfall.

A beautiful September morning in Alaska reminds me of that old song "September Morn" sung by Neil Dimond.

I managed to sneak my camera lens into the center of an artificial autumn bouquet, and found berries smaller than a 1/4 of an inch. With the right lighting, it looked like I was surrounded by a magical Lilliputian world.
I uploaded this image to include in my "White" album series... previously 'Explored' under "garussell11", this image will be included in other groups only if invited.
