The façade of this building looks like a bingo board, but it's really a giant clock by a famed graphic designer.

I am waiting to see an orthopaedic surgeon about my injured elbow, but it appears to be infected again, so wasn't in the mood for photos today. I went to bed early and trying out an OSMO-patch on my elbow to see if it will make a difference, but woke up about 10:30pm, got up and decided to take a pic of the stove clock at 23:00 hours!

I didn't realise the stove panel was so dirty till it was enlarged on the screen!

So, this wednesday I, my Mum and my brother went for a trip to Copenhagen, and part of that trip was to the first and only Lego Store in Denmark ( I´ve never been to a Lego Store before). My brother and I each bought a large PaB cup (or rather, our Mum paid them, seeing how my brother couldn´t actually afford one himself).

Amongst the bricks to pick from were these printed 'digital clock'-tiles. I didn´t grab a whole lot of those (by some reason I was momentarily blind to their potential), but my brother took, as you can see, plenty, and borrowing them (our collection is practically shared, and it´s all stored in my room, anyway), I puzzled together this little vignette.

Also, I got the Forbidden Forest set, and my brother got the Alien Conquest tripod. Oh, and I found this hairpiece in the minifig three-pack stand (which is great, because I need it if I ever want to make a sigfig, but none of the sets on my shopping list has Ron Weasley in them). ^_^

In bad news, my USB clip just broke, so I´ve lost everything on it, including a few photos of stuff I haven´t yet uploaded, but already have disassembled (which sucks!). =(

Once again it's time to reset all the clocks in the house to British Summer Time. Between March 1968 and October 1971, British Standard Time, one hour ahead of GMT for the whole year, was tried. The problem was that winter mornings were pretty dark, especially in the north of Scotland. However, overall road casualties were reduced as the lighter evenings were safer. See here

Perhaps it will be tried again.

This digital clock sits on my desk shelf. The outside temperature was 30 plus, and the room temperature was as you can see, 27 degrees at 5:41pm and it still is 27 degrees at 11pm.

Defying Akihabara’s image as an otaku wonderland, the new Chomp Chomp complex targets women in their 20s and 30s. The 10-floor emporium features 14 bars and restaurants, ranging from soba and seafood (Kikkon) to okonomiyaki (Teppan 200 degrees) and upscale sushi (Ganko). Popular female-friendly chains like Kichiri and Toriyoshi also make an appearance, and the basement houses an appropriately trendy bar named Gen. Chomp Chomp (1-13 Kanda-Sakumacho, Chiyoda-ku) opened April 24 2009, just one minute from the Showa Dori exit of Akihabara station. (Source: metropolis.co.jp)

¡Viva el electric eye de la sx-70!

Albert Einstein's famous quote is still actual.

You can tell I went on some kind of adventure today. Me and Froggy went up to the lake. Lots of pictures of Froggy sticking his nose (and feet) where they don't belong. I also got video of some itchy geese.

Carpeting is almost 35 years old. Back in the 70's and 80's, we used to go to yard sales as a family. That's when my mother bought all the ceramic cats you see here.

Dublin Heuston, or Heuston Station, is one of Ireland's main railways stations. It serves the west and southwest and south of Ireland. The terminus was opened in 1846 as the HQ for the Great Southern and Western Railway and was called Kingsbridge Station. In 1966, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Easter Rising of 1916, the station was renamed in honour of Commandant Sean Heuston, one of the executed leaders of the rebellion who had been employed at the station.

The 15 numbers of the digital clock display time going and coming relative to midnight. Read time going left to right and time coming in the opposite direction. So, if the clock reads 070437000235616 it means that it is 7:04 A.M. (7 hours and 04 minutes since midnight) and that there are 16 hours, 56 minutes and 23 seconds remaining until midnight. The three numbers in between are a blur of moving numbers. ~ gothamist.com/2011/06/14/union_square_clock_yes_it_is_a_c...

The Sapporo TV Tower (さっぽろテレビ塔 Sapporo Terebi-tō), built in 1957, is a 147.2 metre high TV Tower with an observation deck at a height of 90.38 metres.

In 1961, digital clocks were installed at the height of 65 metres from the ground, which was donated by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., a Japanese electronics manufacturer. This installation was suggested by the founder of the company Konosuke Matsushita, who thought these digital clocks would draw a great attention to the Tower. These digital clocks, installed at four sides of the Tower, have been repaired two times: in 1998 and 2006. Interior and exterior of the Sapporo TV Tower were renovated in 2002, and the color of walls at the second and third floor was turned from pale green to dark green. In the second repair of the digital clocks in 2006, the light-emitting diode was adopted, and the advertisement right below the clocks was changed from the "National" to "Panasonic". Master Pulse clock. Time set by the DCF77 atomic clock in Mainflingen near Frankfurt Germany. Time is displayed on the analogue skeletal face and time, date and sync info on the 4 x 20 LCD display. The clock also distributes various clock pulses to drive an assortment of slave clocks. These pulses are indicated by a row of LEDs. The clock also has LED indicators for the DCF77 signal and chimes. The clock will chime quarter hour and hours via an on board chime or can drive external chimes. When disconnected from the 5volt PSU the clock will switch to battery mode. Software updates are via USB to a built in UART module. Time and date can also be read from the clock via the USB com port.

Ginza is one of Japan's best-known entertainment districts. It is lined with shops, ranging from century-old retailers to department stores and the latest high-fashion boutiques. Recently a number of shops targeting younger people have been added, making it a district that is fun for all ages. The Japanese expression "burabura" means to amble about, so the phrase "Ginbura" (Ginza + burabura) has come to signify spending time in a luxurious way. (Source: tokyometro.jp)

12/04/09 – Day 338 of 365

I just couldn't sleep. I woke up at 2:49 AM...and began my day. I grabbed my P&S camera which was a hand reach away. Interesting to note, the sheep (a beanie baby) was next to the clock (for real!) and I moved it in front of the clock. It was shot by the light of the outside Christmas lights that 'someone' forgot to turn off. The original shot had an awful orange cast (of course), so I converted it to b&w for more drama! ETA: Except for one small detail!

P.S. I never got back to sleep after this! And technically, this wasn't shot on Friday, but I figured a few hours off would not matter one whit to anyone!

I Need Some Sleep

The Eels

I need some sleep.

I can’t go on like this.

I try counting sheep,

But there’s one I always miss.

Everyone says I’m getting down too low

Everyone says: "You just gotta let it go"

"You just gotta let it go"

I just gotta let it go

I need some sleep

time to put the old horse down

I’m in too deep

and the wheels keep spinning round

Everyone says I’m getting down too low

Everyone says: "You just gotta let it go"

"You just gotta let it go"

I just gotta let it go

You just gotta let it go

You just gotta let it go

You just gotta let it go

The Uyghurs are a very welcoming Muslim Turkic ethnic group living in Eastern and Central Asia. About 7,2 millions of them live in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region at the western extremity of China. Uighur means unity or alliance. Their origins seem to come back to the Ding Ling nomads, in the 3rd century BC. The ancestors of the Uyghurs mixed with Turkish nomad tribes, Hans, Mongolians and Tibetans. With the settlement of the population and the development of trade, commercial links with China developped on the Silk Road. At the end of the 10th century, Islam spread. The imperial governement of China then implemented a tight control over the region. This led to the unrest of Uqturpan in 1765. Rebellions and separatist revendications have never ceased since then, even after the region became autonomous in 1955. Islam used to have a real influence on economic, legal land educational affairs as well as on the matrimonial system. Nowadays religion has shrunk to the personal space.
