On 3 December, 2015, the 161st anniversary of the Eureka Rebellion in Ballarat, Sovereign Hill included The Lazarus Tour in its program for the day. The Lazarus Tour depicted extracts from the diary of Samuel Lazarus which recorded a first hand account of events in Ballarat at the time of the rebellion.

Olympus digital camera The pigs that are made each year for the annual BBQ festival in Lexington NC. Each pig is hand painted by a artist or other person that has won the right to do so. They stand for one year all over town and then are auctioned off at the end of the festival with the new ones taking their place for one year. All money is donated to charities.

I thought I would take a few snaps of the Maypole shopping precinct whilst it's still standing. I used to live above the Chip shop (not that that's anything to brag about eh!) It was my first home alone. The demolishing team have moved on to the site with their diggers and I'm guessing that by this time next week all that'll be left standing is the Chinese shop, I don't understand why they haven't vacated yet? It would seem someone wants them out now though, judging by the smashed window in their front door.
Company day out at Deeside Activity Centre, Aboyne. I was on the 'petrolhead' package, which included off-road driving, quad biking, go-karting, and operating diggers. I probably didn't fully appreciate the last one, being a girl and all that, but I know one of my brothers in particular will be jealous :)

This digger wasp - (Hoplisoides) is my first attempt of Focus stacking. This is a result of 2 focused shots one with the left eye and the other is the right eye.

Wasps of the genus Sphex (commonly known as digger wasps) are cosmopolitan predators of the family Sphecidae that sting and paralyze prey insects. There are over 130 known digger wasp species. In preparation for egg laying, they construct a protected "nest" (some species dig nests in the ground, while others use pre-existing holes) and then stock it with captured insects. Typically, the prey are left alive, but paralyzed by wasp toxins. The wasps lay their eggs in the provisioned nest. When the wasp larvae hatch, they feed on the paralyzed insects.
The well-known species great golden digger wasp (Sphex ichneumoneus) is found in North America. The developing wasps spend the winter in their nest. When the new generation of adults emerge, they contain the genetically programmed behaviors required to carry out another season of nest building. During the summer, a female might build as many as six nests, each with several compartments for her eggs. The building and provisioning of the nests takes place in a stereotypical, step-by-step fashion.

This digger has been photographed to death so wanted to show you my take on it. This is the long exposure version. I hope its different to what has been done before. What do you think?
The tide line in Miramar was full of hole wsith balls of dirt flung up around them. I waited and watched, and soon enough a tiny crab popped out of the hole with a ball of sand, which it threw out from the hole. Every time it did that, it rested a while and basked in the sun before popping back into the hole to collect some more sand.
Any help with the id will be appreciated. The busy little mite is about a cm in size.
In French coverage of the Diggers, a photo, taken in front of City Hall *was used for a book and a movie. It shows five of the early people in the group.
The second third and fourth person in the photo is Emmett Grogan, Kent Minault and Peter Berg.
The following pages cover these three.
___
* - I said that they were coming out of City Hall. The real story is much better. they had just been released from jail. Their case had been thrown out of court. this is one of several reasons:
'The prosecutor began to read off the charges that were filed against him and--as they always do--he simply read aloud the number of the penal code that was alleged to have been violated and not the name of the crime it represented. As the prosecutor was mouthing off a whole string of these numbers, he came to one which no one seemed able to identify--not him, or the defense counsel, or even the judge, who finally asked his court clerk to look the number up in the California book of penal codes. When the clerk located its meaning, he brought the lexicon over to the bench and his honor announced that it meant maintaining and operating an opium den. The courtroom burst into laughter, and the judge had to gavel for

order before continuing. "It says here that there has to have been an Oriental present at the time of the offense in order for this to be a valid charge. Was there an Oriental present when this defendant was arrested, Mister Prosecutor?" The courtroom began to convulse, and even the judge seemed to think that it was mildly amusing for he pointed out that "no one has been arrested or charged with this crime, since the year 1891." '

Grave Digger made a surprise appearance in the back lot where I work. He was getting his big tires put on by the snowmobile and quad dealership next door.
With his street tires, he looks more like a shopping cart than a monster truck!
