This is diffuse because you cannot see exactly where the light source is coming from. Also, although you can see some shadow, they are not as harsh as shadows that can be seen in a direct photograph.

dark concert hall + breakcore + too much fog inside makes pics with lo-fi camera's go insane... hypno & ah cama sotz.

I would have never considered duct-mounted 3-way diffusers like this, but it certainly saves space
