A search has been launched for a windsurfer who was seen in difficulty off the coast near Edinburgh.
Members of the public spotted the surfer near Cramond Island at around 1pm on Tuesday and called the coastguard.
The RNLI lifeboat from South Queensferry launched and is searching the area.
Police are on land interviewing the witnesses and checking the windsurfer has not come ashore.
A Navy helicopter is also helping with the search.
Anyone who was windsurfing in the area today is asked to contact coastguard to say they are safe and well. There is a chance the person spotted has come ashore and does not know a search has been launched.

technical difficulties abound. the green and red collar part was supposed to be reversed. i had to rip out so many time sand re-stitch that i just gave up and called it a "reversible stocking". grrr.

Following the difficulty finding the hotel, I had a little trouble picking up the Camino the next morning. Resorting to asking for directions, it took a little while to explain that I was looking for the route rather than for breakfast. As the man pointing mutely to the sign ten foot behind me, his difficulty in appreciating my need for help finding the path was understandable.
By the time I reached Pradeda, the morning's mist had turned to a light drizzle. I convinced myself that this was because I was heading up to the Alto de Vicariza, the last major summit before leaving the mountains for good, and that as I descended out of the clouds a murky but dry day would await me.
In the meantime, Pradeda's abandoned church demanded some attention before I climbed into the cloud and the forest and the soft staccato percussion of the rain.
