I really had a difficult time this week. I took multiple pictures of "light" sources...feel free to check my "near misses" out and make comments/recommendations - any help is appreciated!!!. I really couldn't get an end result that I was happy with. This one comes closest in the "like" category. I'm still not completely pleased with it so if I get more chances this weekend, I will take this one down and submit something else but, unfortunately, this is the best I could get at this point. At least one good came out of it, now I know one of the areas I really need to focus on getting better at...LIGHT!
More than 10 years ago, I bought a Ravensburger 3d puzzle globe from Aldi. It depicts an antique globe with a map by Willem Janszoon Blaeu, a Dutch cartographer, atlas maker and publisher. The image is from the 1600s (17th century) but I don't know what year. We never took it out of the box, not for years, but did bring it with us when we moved to the USA in 2009. On New Year's Eve 2017, for some reason, we decided to finally work it. WOW. It brought out our obsessive traits like nothing before. We didn't even finish our bottle of champagne before midnight, and almost missed midnight, because we were so consumed with doing this thing. Only mistake we made was doing it on this table - no color contrast whatsoever. We didn't finish on NYE, but got it more than 50% done.
The top and bottom of the globe say

A difficult bird to photograph but fortunately it came to the road from the underbrush below and did not see me.
We noticed an art project on this wall: a row of small photo portraits, all of the same size. The last square was not a portrait, but a mirror. Kind of your own portrait if you come up to it and look into it.
So my husband took a picture of me trying to fit my reflection in the small mirror and take a picture of it at the same time.
I did not succed, by the way.

Difficult fellas, these guys, to get a macro shot of as they are very nervous creatures and very quick!
It was a difficult ride climbing the D'Aguilar Range to its summit of almost 800m at Mount Tension Woods, and then an exhilarating ride down some very steep rocky fire trails (The Lepidozamia Track) as we followed Kobble Creek back to civilization.
All up it was about 66km with total ascent / descent of about 1550m. The total ride was about 10 hours because we had to keep stopping - Simon got half a dozen punctures and we went through three spare tubes and half a roll of duct tape before we fixed it.
I shudder to think what would have happened if I hadn't taken 4 spare tubes and three rolls of duct tape. If ever I needed justification for carrying so much "Stuff" on my rides, this is it.
This ride covers some beautiful scenery. Normally we'd be able to do it in about 5 hours, and it's worth the effort if you don't mind getting your feet wet!

The most difficult thing now is to continue to see beauty. The interesting thing is that she hasn't gone anywhere. Beauty has always been and is around us. Inside a person, obviously, there is something like a "receiver". The "receiver" is working - I see, admire, live. The receiver is malfunctioning - they exist and I move by inertia. I remembered the physics course I chose for the exam in the eleventh grade of school - the observer effect, when particles behave differently under the observer's gaze and without. what will not be remembered. However, with beauty in a different way, it is always there, whether we look or not. Although...

Difficult to get a pic of as the artwork is not only hidden in a dark little forest but also protected by a translucent cover that reflects / Er war nicht leicht im Orginal zu fotografieren, weil er nicht nur in einem finsteren Waeldchen versteckt, sondern auch noch unter einer spiegenden Plexiglassscheibe geschuetzt ist.

After begging me for an hour and teasing me with cheesy grins to take his picture, I finally got the camera out and he REFUSED to look at me or cooperate. The troublemaker is my middle name shirt seems a tad fitting eh?
