A bird that is very difficult to spot amongst the pebbles until it moves is the ringed plover.
It's eggs however are even more difficult to spot, so please take care when walking on pebbled shorelines.

As always I extend my sincere gratitude to all who are kind enough to comment and fave my photos or even stop by and just have a look. It is very much appreciated.

It can be difficult to get close to a Northern Shrike. I just really liked this perch and the fading western light on this guy even at a distance.
St. Albert, Alberta.
I find photographing trees difficult. I envy those with the eyes to detail and composition to pick out something from the cacophony of the forest and create an image out of nothing. Well this time I got lucky. I could not ignore the light of a sun fighting a thunder cloud with humidity in the air lighting this single tree ablaze.

Most butterflies are skittish and difficult to approach, flying away at the first hint of movement. This unusual butterfly was comfortable in my presence and allowed me to follow it around the meadow until I got close enough to shoot macros, as it enjoyed the sweet nectar in the tiny yellow flowers.
Une photo pour la scène pas la beauté, et difficile à prendre j'ai dû marcher un bon bout dans la tourbière et me suis tenu loin pour ne pas les déranger. A photo for the scene not the beauty, and difficult to take I had to walk a good in the bog and stayed away so as not to disturb them.
Rather a difficult challenge to make a macro of a calendar ... we have a large wall one, small one-day-a-page ones, and everything else is digital! So I decided to play around with a sheet of the 2021 months ... and ended up with a 3cm cube. ;o)

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!
Today is an orange day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Crazy Tuesdays is old and new. Of course we have Mr. Teddy bear with us to celebrate Happy Teddy Bear Tuesdays.
Mr. Teddy Bear has a dilemma: old or new ? What do you prefer ? New is exacting and cool and so new and so out of usual … New is the change and the challenge to adapt. But on the other hand: old is reassuring, it is what we are use to … Old is comfort and we know what to expect…
When Mr. Teddy Bear realized his old pencil was almost too old to continue to write his exciting adventures, he went pencil shopping… His old pencil was so awesome but those new guys were so shiny and new… Of course the new pencil will have to learn everything from the old one… so there is no question about throwing away the old pencil (this is the hoarder inside of me speaking ;-) !) But the choice was so difficult… New pencils looked so similar… with no distinctive signs, no character and no experience…. The old pencil was very stubborn and had an opinion on everything… but he had also the best stories to tell… the new guys were very « blah » in the eyes of Mr. Teddy Bear…
Eventually Mr. Teddy Bear will choose one new pencil… and he will try to get use to it and to make it his personal pencil… Until it becomes as awesome as his old pencil… And not so new anymore…
So are team NEW or team OLD ?
Me, I’m in the team OLD !
Happy CMWD and happy CT and happy HTBT to all participants !! And for the rest of us : happy day !!
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and healthy!! And see you soon on Flickr !!
Blue Jay in difficult light, but I kind of like the pose and semi-backlit blue feathers.

It was difficult to shoot the subject in the dark. My first challenge was getting the mountain in focus. It was trial and errors. The snow was crusty under my feet. Any movement I made created a slight movement on the tripod. When I stood on a rock my movements stopped moving the tripod and I got my shot. I have tried for this shot since June.

Difficult not to take a photo of this fine building when the light is shining on it. And the rendering and sharpness from the Flexaret is wonderful.

Notoriously difficult subjects these (or at least that's my experience), simply because they are so incredibly active & never seem to stop still. I was lucky here, as this one paused for a few seconds to preen, so I was able to bag a couple of shots.
Stour valley, Suffolk.

Found the Dor deserted for the first time! Shot taken in the pouring rain so difficult to keep the lens dry and the tripod steady in the gusty wind but had a good time :)

ribbons ... A theme that took me quite some time to work out! More difficult than I thought. Here is my best attempt, looking forward to your feedback.
It's difficult to say we've owned cats. Cat's are such a free spirited animal. Seems as if they have taken a place to grace our families for a period in time. We will always remember them and the bond that we've shared!
Difficult series to be photographed, as they are restless and tiny they blend in with the leaves and branches, and remained high up in the trees in a backlight. But anyway, these little creatures, good or bad, were clicked and are wonderful!

Common Frog, difficult to single out at this time of Year. One of hundreds present, in a pond in Norfolk. Taken with a long lens to avoid a disturbance.
During these difficult times we have to remember our children in particular. We have to work to coming together to help everyone, the refugees, children separated from their parents and universally working at it. We all belong to the human family and the human family extends worldwide, not just within the borders of a country.
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️
This waterfall is fairly difficult to shoot. There is just not much color there to work with. If you look through other images of the falls most simply use the sky to add some color. When I visited the site, I wanted to do something different, use something besides the sky to add color. Well, there was some great yelow grass, and some green near the falls, but it was hard to get to. The lookout is high above and getting in close to the fals would have meant using a zoom, then loosing the setting. So in order to get the color, and the setting, I had to venture down the cliff edge. So I went down, into the cliff face, which was made of sand and loose rock. Sooooo not the smartest thing I have ever done. One step, slide 5 feet, next step, slide 4 feet, and so on. I finally reached the color and set up the tripod. I was quite excited to see what it looked like. So anyway, I do not advise this spot. Not sure its worth the effort or the danger. After all, when I finished shooting and turned around, I had to climb back up, one step up, three feet back, second step up, 5 feet back. Not a productive way to get up a cliff. Enjoy.
I think it will be difficult... I found 3 genus who could match : Protaphorura, Thalassaphorura and Supraphorura.
I read that to distinguish Supraphorura and Protaphorura, it's necessary to see the furca. I don't have picture of the furca. According to this website I use for species list and sightings in Norway
(www.artsdatabanken.no/), there is just Supraphorura furcifer, observed in the south.
I don't know how to separate Thalassaphorura and Protaphorura. In Norway, there is :
- Thalassaphorura debilis seen at Varanger peninsula
- Thalassaphorura duplopunctata seen at Varanger
- Thalassaphorura encarpata south of Norway
A lot of species of Protaphorura with observations :
- Protaphorura bicampata
- Protaphorura boedvarssoni
- Protaphorura cancellata
- Protaphorura fimata
- Protaphorura humata
- Protaphorura islandica
- Protaphorura macfadyeni
- Protaphorura pannonica
- Protaphorura procampata
- Protaphorura pseudovanderdrifti : most widely distributed from sightings, including north (www.artsdatabanken.no/taxon/Protaphorura%20pseudovanderdr...)
- Protaphorura quadriocellata
- Protaphorura subuliginata
- Protaphorura tricampata
- Protaphorura vanderdrifti
- Protaphorura armata
I don't expect to name the species, it seems difficult. But maybe the genus ?
