As the days draw in earlier the Northbound train chase routine becomes more difficult. Here train 32 opens up the post Easter exodus ex Brighton behind TR units 01 + 06. As the train was approaching the shadows from the hillside behind were racing towards the train and when it got there there was hardly any light left so I used a monochrome rendition to rescue what I could as there were huge areas of shadows. Despite the borderline result I was quite happy with the lighting effect despite trying to not pay too much attention to the grain extracted from the shadowy areas !.

A difficult image to process, either in bw or colour, as everything is pretty much the same. All the stones have the same colour and the few plants on the edge of the path don't make much difference. Still, I love that little part of Aldeia Da Cuada, the narrow path winding between the cozy looking cottages. I always get a feeling of safety when I look at this scene.

difficult love among thorns

It's a time for everything.

It's always a time for afterthought, I sure have done that this year.

It's a wonder that I still have one or two brain cells left, lol.

Brain cells aren't used only for work.

Difficult tasks within can blow your mind away.

Why is that?

When you are at work you use your brain in a relatively calm, rational way, it's mostly based on knowledge.

When you are dealing with your inner being you will touch your feelings as soon as you open the door only a tiny bit.

And that hurts.

We normally don't like to be hurt.

Therefore we leave things to be instead of dealing with them, even though you know that you do things in a way you know isn't proper for you or others.

And then you are stuck.

It only gets worse, it never gets fixed without your attention.

Somehow the problem keeps growing and will become like a domino, leaving you with even more tasks to deal with, but the same problem is there like a basis, a foundation, it just transforms into different shapes.

"The story of my life..", you can think, "Why am I always so unlucky?"

Giving it attention is the same as giving the problem light.

Darkness is never a solution.

Light is.

Attention can be done in many ways. When you first are aware of that something is wrong, then you have taken the first step.

We all deal with our stuff in different ways.

The most important is that you actually deal with it.

Some don't need dwelling, back an forth, some know exactly what to do and proceed.

Some needs breaks in thinking, to let it all mature and when the time is right, they do what they need to do.

I'm a slow one, taking into consideration all and everything.

But when I know I'm right, I act like a tsunami. 2018 has been filled with emotional tsunamis, followed by action and intuition.

Tsunami after tsunami.

My tsunamis are like fire in the forest, my foundation gets cleansed, purified and leaving me with a new respect and love for myself and leaving me ready for new adventures.

The unknown is always a nice pillow, we can make many excuses to just be left stuck.

We often don't see that we are doing just that.

Time for heavy food has been and is definitely over for me, for a long time.

Heavy food can make me sleepy and slow in my body and mind.

I can feel the urge of going for a hike instead of eating the dessert.

But I'm not rude, so of course I don't do that, lol.

The company I have had this Christmas was just as perfect as it should be.

Everyone was thankful for the nice time we could have together, everyone in a good mood.

One special person was missing, but this year has indeed been an adventurous year and we all needed to end the year in this way.

I'm thankful for what has been.

I'm thankful for what is.

I'm thankful for what is to come.

Dear diary, thanks for listening to me this year 😁 I will continue in 2019, I promise, lol.

My journey isn't over yet.

And remember, when I'm in 97 I will be jumping in parachute from a plane 😅

We're in some difficult times...but I'd still like to wish everyone a happy Easter. Easter and Spring are intertwined with hope...which we need in abundance now.

With the situation we're in and sticking around the house for days on end...I couldn't help but try to capture some azaleas in my yard last weekend.

The Lesser Yellowlegs looks a lot like the Greater Yellowlegs. They are smaller, hence the name "Lesser", but that is a difficult feature to determine when they are not side-by-side with the Greater Yellowlegs. (see collage below).

The bill is shorter, the body less robust and the coloring is in a tighter pattern in Lesser Yellowlegs.

I had good luck with this difficult target, a male Vermilion Flycatcher. The hardest of the hard was when they went low to the ground. It made it more difficult for the camera to identify the subject and required me to get low enough to get a reasonable background. Getting low these days is in itself an accomplishment! This guy dove for the grass but couldn’t find his target, giving me enough time to get him in the viewfinder. (Pyrocephalus rubinus) (Sony a1, 200-600 lens @ 600mm, f/6.3, 1/5000 second, ISO 640)

Back up to Ambleside ,and stopped off on are way up to Stockghyle falls ,and a difficult clime down a very slippery bank to get this one .

OK, life without the dominant index finger is as difficult as you would think. So, I decided, since I was chock full o' opiate pain pills, to post one more before just chillin' in a stupor. Peace out!

Angry Mockingbird attacks a Starling.

This was going on a for few minutes , The Mockingbird kept attacking only this Starling ,it was very furious ,high speed attacks ,difficult to shoot , this is the best photo I could get.

This will be the only other Iris photo I will show. The rest of them had focus problems I just couldn't live with.

I had a really difficult time telling, through the viewfinder, when it was in focus properly (my lenses are so old and beat up, they won't auto-focus anymore... well ONE lens won't... the other one won't manual focus. sigh.)

So here is the other iris shot I was willing to share. I has focus issues too, but not as bad.

Alison, below, says the colors are off the scale... she meant it is beautiful, but I realize the colors really ARE off the scale. However, I like it that way, so vivid!

#Carbon

What a difficult theme. My mind went blank when I read "Carbon". I thought "Should I buy something made of carbon?", and looked online for ball pens and other small carbon-made items but then decided against it. I thought of using my tripod as a subject because it has legs made of carbon. But it looked like absolutely nothing when I got close to the pattern. Ditto my one Casio watch that has a "Carbon Core Guard" casing.

So consequently this is a last-minute photo of the obvious that every one of us has at home: a pencil, or rather a pencil lead in a "Koh-i Noor Hardtmuth" clutch pencil. I have taken similar photos before, with the tip of the lead in focus, so to make it a little different, I focused directly on the top of the tip and got as close as possible. The rings of bokeh around the lead are the pencil's metal opening. Light sources were my natural light photo lamp from above (and slightly from the left), and my two go-to single LEDs shone through a green bottle (left) and the transparent red plastic lid (right). The blue is from a small blue glass jar on which I'd placed the pencil.

Kudos to the members who photographed diamonds or match sticks for the theme. I didn't even think of these items because I kind of blocked myself ;)

HMM, Everyone!

4 lbs 4 months old and adjusting quite nicely! But he would not pose in the right light! Miniature Schnauzer

The difficult part of taking pictures of some insects is that they scurry so quickly, making it difficult to get a clear image. This little critter was zipping up the tall stalk of a flower and I followed his progress all the way to the top. Once there, he sat motionless. Only his antennae waved back and forth as he surveyed his new kingdom. I could imagine him shouting...I AM KING OF THE MOUNTAIN!

Capture taken during the August trip to the Dolomites. First time, that I have been able to enjoy a sunrise from there, and is difficult to forget the atmosphere with the conditions on that morning...All a good weekend ahead! Some snow here...Thanks, Udo.

Difficult not to put more poppy photos in Flickr these days

This image is completely Artificial Intelligences except for the model and the sky. The first thing I found out about AI images is that it's difficult to manipulate the image. This one look fairly life like. On my first attempts the images came out looking cartoonish.

So, the rest of the story on the water issue is. I live outside of town so I'm not on city water. A private company supplies the water for me and most of my neighbors. They were only suppose to take a certain amount of water from the aquifer and for years have been taking more then their allotment. No one said anything because there was plenty of water. But now that water isn't so plentiful it's a big deal, which is why we're in stage 4 of water restrictions and not allowed to water outside.

There are times when the sunlight seems to dance across the land in front of me. Where all is well in the world and things seem to be at peace. I often appreciate these times more now than I did when I was younger. Maybe because I know how difficult and painful life can be at times.

Macro Mondays - Double Exposure

This was difficult, as I had not done anything like this before. But applying the same technique as textures I managed to get it done. I was in a panic all day long even looking at tutorials that were only making me more confused.

This is a soft out of focus done over the almost same frame in focus. (82% blend) Kind of cool and not bad for a panicking guy. (and still sick)

Happy Macro Monday

I choose this picture as the best in my gallery of 2016.

It was very difficult to take it, considering that I was all alone with a little tripod and a smartphone.

After a lot of attempts, I'm very happy with te result.

Today is the 20th day of Valentine's month of February. Caring is an important part of life, I love to care for others in many different ways, helping, supporting, healing, embracing, looking after, teaching, providing welfare, protecting, and attending to others.

I would also like to mention and thank those in the teaching, medical, food production, and teaching.

Bruno Mars - Count on me lyrics

"Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh.

There was a pause.

"Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet.

"No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I don't think I do."

"That's okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend.

"What are you doing?" asked Pooh.

"Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite

often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either.

"But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you

know you've got someone there for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh."

And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the

solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought

that his best friend had never been more right.

Medium-sized woodpecker with bold black-and-white barring on back and a cream-colored belly. A patch of yellow on the lower belly can be difficult to see. Male has red crown and yellow nape. Female lacks red crown. Distinctive in range, but hybridizes with Red-crowned Woodpecker; hybrids best left unidentified. Found in open woodland, edges, and gardens.

After catching the IR power move on the east side of Sheridan, I tried to catch it crossing the Fox River Bridge on the west side of Sheridan. That is difficult at best from my location, and it unexpectedly failed. So I headed to Wedron to get it coming over the Indian Creek Bridge. Here it is, crossing the exceedingly overgrown bridge on the north side of Wedron, just before entering the yard at the sand plant.

Many people who have never been to NY state find it difficult to believe that any of it could look like this.

Normally when we return from a trip I tend to post photos in the order that they were taken but I thought I'd start this time with a photo taken yesterday.

All the advice is that Jozani Forest is the only guaranteed place to see this endemic species in the Zanzibar archipelago and whilst you will definitely see them there that isn't the only place they frequent.

There are only 2,500-3,000 individuals remaining and we were very privileged to share the hotel grounds with a troop of 10-15 monkeys nearly every day of our two week stay.

The hotel was very quiet and for most of the stay only 2 or 3 of the 20 odd rooms were occupied which meant that the monkeys got used to us being around and allowed me to get within 2 metres of them with my camera.

That's not to say that they were easy to photograph as they move around so much but also the fact that they largely remain in dense vegetation means that a high ISO is a pre-requisite so the balance between grain and camera shake becomes difficult to judge.

In order to take this photo which was around the pool area I had to stand on the (very) hot pool paving surrounds and as a result have badly burnt the soles of my feet.

Worth the agony of the long trip home and the 5 hour stop over in Addis.

A great opportunity to shoot moon when its full and traveling between the overcast. A bit difficult to set the exposure as the light changes every other second. Too much and you will loose details and too little then you won't get the clouds. Also since the moon is constantly on the move, you cannot do bracketing and later merge as you will get a slight motion and won't get a perfect merge. And I hate photoshopping anything that ain't there on the photograph. So the best option is to take multiple shots and hope one does come out with all details you would want in the shot!

Thank you very much for your comments and faves, regretfully, I am finding it increasingly difficult to reply to your comments, because of my very limited time on the internet, due to constant power interruptions in South Africa. I do read and appreciate every one of them, however! Thanks again!!

I hope you like this photo, because it was EXTREMELY difficult to get. this is a HUGE touristy spot and i had to wait a while to get the bridge clear of people and then I only had 6 shots to chose from.
