Taken at St Fagans National History Museum in the garden of Rhyd y Car cottages.
The Rhyd-y-Car cottages were originally built around the year 1800 in Merthyr Tydfil. They were built to house workers for Richard Crawshay's iron works. They were re-built at St. Fagans in 1987.
There are 5 cottages. each decorated and furnished in a different period of time.
Another moon, or painting with light.
For those who ask themselves such questions, no, I am not as small as it seems here.
…or where the fire meets the houses. The CalWood fire reaches the base of the mountains after a downhill/ downwind sprint (see previous post for more thorough description). With minimal warning, all residents of houses in the potential path of the fire were able to evacuate, some with harrowing stories of driving vehicles past exploding trees. Sadly 26 homes were lost to the fire, though it could have been far worse. The fire hit the boundary with the former Overland fire (2003, on the left in the photo) with a loss of fuel (trees) and began to slow down significantly. Flames are faintly visible in the lower center of the picture burning through grass. The fire continued to burn slowly toward the south for a few days, but has been largely contained and will probably be extinguished by 2 cold fronts coming through the area in the next 4 days. The brownish color of the clouds is real and is the result of the ash emitted by the burning vegetation. Cumulus clouds of water droplets are visible in the back, partially obscured by smoke from different fires to the west (left).

There is always one different from the others...this one is facing the camera, while all others are looking away! This ended up being my favorite shot of the day.

These seem different than the last one I found on a Doug fir cone. That one was glowing white. My days of including a sunny Bokeh are about over for the season, rainy days.
I designed a world of my own
Where there are two moons to dream
Where the long avenue has no end
Where maybe I won't be alone
Because a different world
it's a common dream

Not one for everyone, but trying to find something a bit different at Cardiff Central this tele-view captures the 7.05pm Westerleigh Murco - Robertson Sidings empty petroleum tankers (6B47) disappearing away from the Welsh capital and heading west to Pembrokeshire for another refill.
DB Cargo 'Sheds' 66034 and 66176 are doing the honours and don't look like they are sparing the horses either as they catch a bit of sundown glint.
On the left is the once sizeable Cardiff Canton depot (86A), back in the 1970s home to numerous class 37s on coal-traffic duties from the Valleys, as well as visiting locomotives from other regions. Nowadays it's perhaps even busier, but this time mostly with Transport for Wales's DMUs engaged in the more intensive schedules now operating in these parts. It still sees a bit of locomotive activity however looking after the small fleet of TfW class 67 'Skip' units used on their longer distance passenger services. In this shot a couple of class 231s can be seen, and a class 197, which I believe to be 197019.
I was taken by the way the rampant purple-flowering weed growing in the permanent way was capturing the last of the sun's rays. Sadly I haven't been able to get a positive ID on it.

Different from what the Exif data say, this shot was done with the 7Artisans 35mm manual lens at F1.2.
During the pandemic, some businesses have lost a lot, some had to close down, others have profited, and some again profited fantastically ("We're in the money ..."). And all of this was neither their fault nor their brilliant strategy, it was the Virus. In a democratic society based on consensus, one would expect that some kind of mechanism can be found of sharing loss and profit.
Trapezia Crab Spider (Sidymella trapezia)
Much darker in colour and slightly larger than any Trapezoid Spider I have seen previously.

Another very different location on the northern section of the Trans-Mongolian Railway. Geographically, this area features a unique mix of terrain… rivers, mountains, pine forests, and sand. At times it resembles the Gobi, while in other moments it feels more like an oasis ️

out front in God's garden. "Seek" says it's a Carpenter Bee. Not the best shot and only got two ... but it's a beautiful pollinator!
Lake Filsø is one of biggest nature restoration projects in Denmark. It's not only popular for more than 200 different bird species you can watch there and for the Filsø Ellipsen, an elliptical bridge that leads you directly across the lakeside but also for its public toilets, that come up with cool architecture and various birdsounds in each cabin.
It is happening again.
Checking your phone won’t stop it.
Full circle, a rugged wheel has turned and stopped
As if retired from its last monster truck rally
Its shadow as heavy as its material density
You sat there all day distracting yourself as usual
But that wheel remained like a portal
If you went up to it, it could be dangerous
First, an arm and then a foot might pass through.
You can see yourself and your life in a different timeline
One in which you didn’t waste your days.
An adventurer for the ages.
You traveled to all the wonders
Had no regrets
Enjoyed each moment of your existence
And one day that other self heard a faint
Ringing in your other ears
A sharp pain behind your alternative eyes
And you just knew, didn’t you?
We tire of the same realities day after day.
I glimpsed a girl passing through
A young human can still eclipse the whole world.
Speeding like a scene in a fast forwarded film
Upset because she had lost a part of herself
A single eyelash carrying the weight of reality
Landing on her cheek softly like a secret
Stolen by a single breeze
A wish she would never get back again.

While the orange & black of the Rio Grande no longer ply the Moffat Route the color orange is still the predominant color thanks to BNSF trackage right trains. For that I am grateful.
Some days I have to pinch myself as a photographer living in a city like London. It's ever changing skyline is a delight to explore but there are some iconic locations that whenever I see them, and trust me I've looked at this composition of the Millennium Bridge and St Pauls Cathedral literally hundreds of times over the years, that just keep pulling at my eye. I've taken a variation of this shot literally tens of times, probably more, but every day is different. Different skies, different light, different cameras, different lenses, different focal lengths - it's always worth shooting again.
This was taken back in October and I was shooting this old Leica lens on a mirrorless Olympus camera for the first time. It may sound like an expensive setup however it is anything but. The Olympus is a ten year old 16 megapixel camera, not very impressive by today's standards, and the 90mm lens, while it may have Leica written on it is at least 50 years old and can be had on eBay for around a hundred pounds (I paid £85 for my copy). I can't describe the pleasure I get from handling these old manual focus lenses, it's so different than using a modern auto-focus lens. They aren't particularly sharp in comparison but then I ask myself, how sharp does sharp have to be? I know many will disagree but for me this picture is sharp enough and the joy I get from using that old lens far outweighs any disappointment I may have of producing a picture that is not razor sharp. My joy of photography is as much to do with the taking of the pictures, the getting out there and walking with my camera, as it is to do with the pictures I produce, strange as that may sound. Perhaps that's why film photography has become such a staple in my life.

This picture illustrates the challenge between the locals and the tourists. The authencity of the local live, for example the local fishermen, is threatened by the thousands of tourists coming molt in summer to these ugly hotel buildings. Algarve, 2008..
