Wow, what a difference from the 6D! Almost every shot in focus for birds in flight, whereas the 6d was very hit and miss.
Left is Addison (new collection), body in hard plastic and only face in vinyl.
Right is Noelle (old collection), body and face in vinyl.
A couple hundred years ago Ben Franklin defined insanity as doing the same thing repeatedly expecting the outcome to change. My quest for good harrier pics definitely qualifies based upon that criteria. I've tried to work out capturing these birds while on the hunt with nothing better than the marginal results like the image above. At this size, this pic looks pretty good but it's far to soft to qualify as a wall-hanger which is what I'm after.
As a result, I've come to the conclusion that I need to come up with some other tactics for getting close to these birds besides chasing 'em all over the countryside in my truck. Anyone have any suggestions?

One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Mesilla Valley is the plaza in Mesilla.
The plaza has a variety of interesting shops, restaurants, and bars. It is also a historical site and the pink building on the left was an early territorial capitol; the Gadsden Purchase was signed here, too. Nortorious outlaw "Billy the Kid" frequented Mesilla, hence the gift shop commemorating him.
But, I imagine that many people like to visit the plaza simply to experience the distinctive regional architecture.
While the plaza has a configuration that is not unlike many American town squares, the buildings' shapes, materials, and colors are rather distinctive and attractive. The simple box shapes, minimal windows, flat roofs, thick adobe walls, and variations of earth-tone hues reflect the key architectural elements of territorial New Mexico.

Difference appears to be bright (Ashy) vs dark red (Black) eyes. It seems
quite marginal to me. I have been quite confused for long. But the rectal
spot on Black drongo (vs none on Ashy) is very helpful.
