And who better can explain this than David Attenborough, we need to pay attention to what he says and learn how we can make a difference!

What a difference 20 miles makes!

... Between Night & Day :)

Captures taken about 12 hours apart. Both were at two seconds exposure time, one at ISO 100 and a 400ND Filter on, and the other at ISO 3200.

What a difference 30 minutes and 24 km makes, we arrived in Zutphen damp but drying out the sun actually tried to break through several times after leaving the car at a nearby parking lot exploring our way to the old town of this lovely historic Hanseatic town.

Zutphen has been inhabited for over 1700 years and was founded by the Franks during the time of the Roman Empire making it one of Holland’s oldest cities.

Being founders of the Hanseatic League the town has always been prosperous and despite its small size boasts over 450 national monuments thanks to its long wealthy history.

When you are slogging about dripping wet hunched over loaded down with camera gear in the pissing rain you just have to persevere and hope for a break in the weather or good spots that can shield you from the wet while shooting.

For most travel photographers its not like we will always have another opportunity to be back in the same direction so good wet weather gear and umbrellas are the order of the day when traveling in the fall most especially in the Netherlands.

Captured here is the pedestrian mall leading to the Tower of the Walburgis church which was at one time 113m tall but since 1600 reduced to a mere 76m though small in stature it is still a beauty and has been around since the 13th century ushering the locals to sermon.

I took this on September 19th, 2017 with my D750 and Nikon 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens at 28mm 1/8s, f/11 ISO 100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , Luminar and DXO

This is a conservative or low Amish topless buggy clipping along in-2F temperatures. In this area there are two Amish settlements competing for souls and money. Conservative Amish don't allow tops on buggies which limits travel and marks a line of difference with the liberal Amish with their fancy warm buggies.... The conservative group is of southern Germany heritage and language. They have allowed fewer capitalist innovations involving technology and ways of making a living. The other group, after a schism, has embraced global capital flows of value and technology by relying on one of the big three Agricultural corporation to develop a vast system of feeder cattle factory farms. Large semi-open structures have been built to confine a large number of head in a small area (called a CAFO). (there are images of these structures in the Amish folder/album. These "liberal Amish" contract with the outside English people to house their cattle and to work for the Amish. Us "English" provide transportation and ability to use certain technologies that make these huge operations possible. Their wealth has swelled and they have put the money toward the building of large fancy homes that look like suburban houses. The low Amish require people to work on less capital intensive farms. They are not allowed to work in factories. They get by with labor intensive small scale agricultural practices and more humble or low in their consumption. Their homes are rag tag cobbled together structures that are "messy". The high Amish tear down old early 20th and late 19th Century homes to build fancy "McMansions". This leads to another plane of competition to "be in this world but not of this world" Being not of this world means being humble or plain. The liberal Amish think that the less technologically up to date Amish are being prideful and vain or showing off in trying to be "more Amish". The liberal or high churches wear brighter colorful clothes of pink or purple while the conservative churches wear black, dark blue or black. This visual boundary maintains a marriage and social barrier requiring endogamy. Flows of women and capital remain within each group ensuring wealth and social bonds remain within each group. There is a hot cold war between the two groups. The farm in the background is a large English family/corporate farm

...is Gratitude.

With all that is going on around us, these words often come to mind:

Don't let your eyes get used to darkness

The Light is coming soon

Don't let your heart get used to sadness

Put your hope in what is true.

It don't make no difference

Escaping one last time

It's easier to believe

In this sweet madness

Oh this glorious sadness

That brings me to my knees

In the arms of the angel

Fly away from here

From this dark cold hotel room

And the endlessness that you fear

You are pulled from the wreckage

Of your silent reverie

You're in the arms of the angel

May you find some comfort here

however, sky image stacking is always highly recommended.

We all get these 365 days, that are coming to us, the only difference will be what we choose to do with them. Even though a new year doesn't change what is going on presently in our lives, it doesn't change the challenges we face, but with it comes new beginnings, new hopes, fresh starts, and countless opportunities. Embrace it with open arms.

My wish for you is that this year, you write the most beautiful story possible. Remember, no matter what you do, take chances. Leap with your eyes closed sometimes, be spontaneous, and work hard. But remember to play just as hard, laugh until you cry, and if you get a chance at love, make sure to love as if it's your first time. be true to the ones who love you. Remember that grass is healthy, and a good glass of red wine takes away the day's stress.

*Raises my glass!* Here is to wishing everyone a year filled with peace, love, and happiness! Cheers!

Thanks go to BingleymanPhotos for making the introductions, but these Hawthorns now seem like old friends to me having shot them on so many occasions now, the difference being here, that I wanted to photograph them throughout the seasons and especially with some some snow around.

What a difference two weeks make! This is the same place I took photos of Cranes two weeks ago and it was all green. My wife and I had to pick up a package in town today and we drove by Creamers Field. The entire field was yellow with flowers! After we picked up our package, we decided to pull in and see what kind of flowers they were. Thought they were dandelions but was wrong, it is some kind of wildflower. In the midst of the flowers, there were Sandhill Cranes mulling around. Took a few photos and really liked this one the most.

If anyone visits Fairbanks during the summer months, Creamers field is a definate place to stop.

A moi, ta différence m'a plu.

You were there, on my way, among the others, my eyes fell on you.

The meetings are a bit like the advertisement for The Laughing Cow "the casting". We are too much or not enough. To please everyone, you need a hell of a personality.

To me, your difference pleased me.

One man preaching his religious beliefs and one man in strong disagreement. The guy threw his coat down, squared up to the preacher and shouted at him numerous times. He was animated and angry. Every time the preacher said "Jesus loves you", it riled up the guy even more. His reaction, although excessive in trying to grab the microphone, was understandable when you heard him shouting about his experiences. How he, as a serving soldier, saw his friends blown to pieces on the battlefield and how he could find no belief in religion after all he had seen. The encounter ended peacefully after this moment and the ex-soldier apologised to the crowd that had gathered as he walked away.

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.

Technology and I have changed over the past couple of years so I reprocessed some photos that I took in 07/2018. Big difference. Less noise. More control over the color. Sharper, cleaner image.
