Okay, I received a lot of questions on dying resin so I wanted to make a list of some tips for anyone wanting to try this. I'm no expert but these are some observations I made. Also, check out the dying threads on DOA for additional info.
🔸Make sure to throughly clean all the resin you wish to dye, but don't use anything abrasive. Soap, water, and a soft brush works well. If you have sanded areas on your doll, you'll need to sand all over or the dye will attach more readily to the sanded areas making the dye uneven. 🔸The pot you use should be stainless steal, aluminum, enamel, or glass and you shouldn't use that pot to cook with afterwards. Hit up goodwill if you don't have a pot to ruin. This may sound silly, but test and make sure your pot is big enough to submerge all your pieces.🔸Don't use tongs or anything that could put pressure on the part when dying. Resin softens when heated so you can easily warp your resin if you're not careful. For best results, suspend the piece loosely with a wire. Don't drop it in the vat, touching the bottom of the pot could cause unevenness. Wire, clamps, thick rubber gloves are your friends.
🔸THE DYE SMELLS PRETTY BAD. Wear a mask and eye protection so you're not breathing flippin dye. 🔸A rolling boil is optimal but I used just below boiling so there wasn't as much splashing and steam produced. It took me 3 minutes to achieve the darkest colors. 🔸Keep the temPERATURE EVEN. Get that water going and maintain the boil you want for at least 30 mins. If you start dying when the water boils, the temperature may still be rising causing the following pieces to be darker.
🔸Use a stopwatch and make a test piece. Write down your times. It's important to note that most of the dye will be taken into the resin in your first 30 seconds. In that regard, halving the time will not half the results. 🔸Stir the vat often and keep the piece you're dying in motion. For a gradient, just dip the part but keep in moving in and out. If you'd like the dye in the certain area you can literally paint it on. I used a water color paintbrush, soaked it in the boiling dye, and held it to the areas I wanted dyed. You can see the results in areas like the thumb webbing.
Die Blaumeise (Cyanistes caeruleus) wird ihrem Namen gerecht. Das Blau des Himmels scheint sich in ihrem Kopf-, Flügel- und Schwanzgefieder widerzuspiegeln. Der Bauch ist leuchtend gelb gefärbt und besitzt in der Mitte einen schwarzen Längsstrich. Die weißen Wangen sind schwarz umrahmt, wodurch ein schwarzer Augenstreif und Kehlfleck entsteht. Rücken und Schultern sind grünlich. Männchen und Weibchen unterscheiden sich kaum in der Färbung.
solche alten Mauern faszinieren mich immer noch. Als Kind konnte ich lange davorstehen und mir ausmalen, was ich da sehe, nämllch Tiere und Leute und ähnliches.
Die kecke-schwarz-weiß gesprenkelte Federhaube macht die Haubenmeise wohl unverwechselbar.

Die Güterbahnen ist ein ein Zusammenschluss aus über 110 privaten, regionalen und internationalen Unternehmen im Schienengüterverkehr, deren Ziel es ist, gemeinsam ihre Interessen gegenüber der Politik, der Deutschen Bahn und den Medien zu vertreten, den SGV weiter zu stärken und auszubauen. Der ein oder anderen mag sich vielleicht noch an den lautstarken Protestzug aus 20 Loks erinnern, der am 28. September 2020 durch unsere Hauptstadt Berlin gefahren ist und dabei den Unmut der EVU`s gegenüber der Politik in mehreren Entscheidungen kundgetan hat und die eigens dafür beklebte 185 685 der IGE mit ihrer "Hör das Signal, Berlin!" wurde auch oft genug auf Bildern gezeigt.
Auch SBB Cargo International ist Mitglied in den Güterbahnen und hat deswegen auf ihrer 193 659 das entsprechende Logo platziert. Letzte Woche am 19. Juli knipste ich sie an der Einfahrt vom Karlsruher Gbf mit einem KLV in Richtung Schweiz, die Lok trägt passenderweise den Namen "Berlin".
