Awhile back, I found a small collection of photos taken from the early '30s-'60s belonging to a man named Dexter. He worked as an accountant in Great Bend, KS for most of his life but got his career start working in the tiny hamlet of Richfield in the 1930s. During his stint there, he took several photos of the town, which is nearly non-existent today.
This is the original Morton County Courthouse, which was constructed in 1889. Here, Dex captured its last days in operation before the courthouse moved to a smaller, WPA-designed building in 1936. After that, this lovely "castle" was partially abandoned, and it burned to the ground in 1950.
