My grandmother, the woman in the photograph, is a devout Hindu who takes much pride in her religious beliefs. On the day of Divali, I was lucky enough to witness her religious offerings and prayers that she conducted in her living room with her many godly murtis and hymn books before her. Singing songs of worship, it was obvious that Hinduism is very much alive in Trinidadian society. When the Indians first came to Trinidad in 1845, they brought with them Hinduism and throughout the years, the religion has prospered and diffused to many parts of the country as we can see in our culture today. As the picture shows, many people take much pride in practicing the Hindu religion, for it represents their family origin and who they are. Despite the frequent modernization that exists around us, it is evident that many have not lost their cultural identity and the dedication for a religion, whose roots are exist halfway around the world, continues to be very much alive.

This was a gift from my son many years ago for Christmas. The colors are just beautiful but then Hummel is known for that. It's sitting on the chest of drawers in my bedroom.
Thousands gather for annual rosary event
Roughly 5,000 Catholics gathered behind San Juan Diego for the 31st annual Rosary Sunday devotion at the Phoenix Convention Center Oct. 15. The event celebrated Mary and honored her under the title “Our Lady of Guadalupe,” patroness of the Americas and the Phoenix Diocese.
For some, their involvement began with a six-block procession from Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish to the convention center.

Taken during the Pilgrimage 2008, where over thousands of devotees came to the temple to celebrate the 9th anniversary of LYMT's Canada branch.
Pilgrimage (朝山) is a ancient Chinese Buddhism tradition where devotees (lay or monastic) would embark on a thousand mile journey to pay homage to four of most renowned Buddhist temples on foot. Such journey requires tremendous effort and great dedication as devotees would prostrate once for every three steps taken while continuously recite Buddha's name from dawn to dusk. Such journey often taken years to complete. Devotees take on this journey in hope to cleanse and purify their mind and pay respect to the way.
Pilgrimage in this location involves only circling of the exterior of the temple which takes about 1.5 hours.
