Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Everyday during this month, Muslims around the world spend the daylight hours in a complete fast. During this holy month Muslims all over the world abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs during the daylight hours. As a time to purify the soul, refocus attention on God, and practice self-sacrifice, Ramadan is much more than just not eating and drinking. The Arabic word for "fasting" (swam) literally means "to refrain" - and it means not only refraining from food and drink but also from evil actions, thoughts, and words.
Devoted souls congregate and pray to the almighty for peace and beg mercy as Ramadan is said to be the month of forgiveness.

This gentleman was dancing on the songs being played in devotion to the Ganga at Dashashwamedh Ghat.
Recently visited Chintpurni Temple with my cousins. Chintpurni Temple is about one and half hour drive from my home town-Hoshiarpur here in Punjab.
Chintpurni Temple is one of the sacred pilgrimage destinations of Himachal Pradesh. One of the revered deities, Chintpurni Temple is one of the Shakti Peeth’s of Hindu Goddess Durga that draws a number of pilgrims every year during the festivals. The devotees believe that the Goddess of this temple fulfills the wishes of the pilgrims and takes away all their troubles & worries, Hence known as ....... "Chintpurni"
Dedicated to Goddess Chhinnamastika Devi and Goddess Chintpurni Devi, the Chintpurni Devi Temple is revered by people of Northern India. The image which is worshipped in the Chintpurni Temple depicts Goddess Durga without a head and therefore it gives her the name Chhinnamastika Devi which means ‘the Goddess without the head’. It is also believed Sati’s feet had fallen here after it was cut by Vishnu’s Chakra. There are other myths which say that the Goddess had asked one of her devotees to worship her in a temple over here.
Chintpurni Temple is visited by a number of devotees during its festivals. Especially during the Navratris held in the time of April and October and also during Shukalpaksh in August. The Chintpurni Devi Temple is also the venue for a number of other festivals of North India. The Sawan Ashtami Fair is also celebrated with great fervor in the Chintpurni Devi Temple.

Whenever I take da boyz out for a romp, Cumin sees us to the door. Then she remains there waiting for us to return. We don't typically spend much time in the front yard, so Cumin doesn't even get to watch da boyz in action (today Vidalia watched us from the master bedroom window). Once we return, Cumin dances and chirps and arches her back, pacing up and down the railing trying to get me to give her some loving. No wonder why Cumin has an extra special place in my heart. . .

This is a long-short report on the feast of the Three Brothers Martyrs Saints Alfio, Filadelfo and Cirino, that the town of Saint Alfio (Sicily) is dedicating the first Sunday in May to its Three Patron Saints.
On Sunday the Feast is celebrated at 10.00 with a sung Mass in the Mother Church, at 15:00 preparations begin to go down the statues of the Saints on float. At 16.00 the float looks out from the main door of the Mother Church where starts a joyful sound of bells toghether a spectacular shoot of bombs and a spontaneous chorus of faithfuls who perform the anthem of the Three Saints, the famous "Sung".
Subsequently, the float travels the streets of the town of Saint Alfio, accompanied in procession from the large crowd of faithful, to return to the mother church.

This is a young Wilbur-Cruce foal on the Dixon's ranch at the base of the Dragoon Mountians, in Southeastern Arizona. I photoshoped this one with a painting setting. Photo taken on the Dixon's ranch on a very cloudy, rainny day. This foal has awesome coloring and markings on the face and body...very flashing!
Look at the little girl's expression....... she was smiling at everyone who was about to get blessings from the temple elephant.... i don't know why she found it to be amusing!!

A devotee at a temple in rajasthan indulged in his daily chores..
I really appreciate the way these devotees have dedicated their time to the chores and activities of the temple.Right from getting up very early in the morning for the puja,amongst other things to the cleaning and maintenance of the temples,they are doing a good job out of it..Moreover,the light and the feel inside the temple was beautiful rendering peace to the soul...
I got many such shots of the pujaris(devotees)at various temples i visited in rajasthan.Out of the many i like this one the most.....u can view the other two frames Here & Here
