This is the military grave in Banstead, Surrey, of Captain Frederick William Cutts, who was awarded the Military Cross for ‘conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty’ in 1918. A member of the Royal Artillery, he took part in the Somme offensive and was injured twice at St Quentin.
The Military Cross citation stated that while under fire, ‘this officer, although wounded himself, went out under heavy fire to collect stretcher-bearers to remove the wounded, and refused any treatment until all had been cared for. Later in the day he took command of the battery, still under heavy shell fire, and set a fine example of coolness and endurance to all’.
Having survived the horrors of the Somme, Frederick Cutts (who was married with twin children) returned to his home in Banstead, where he became well-known for his involvement with various local organisations, not least the Banstead Amateur Film Society, where he co-starred in The Not-So-Good Companions. He also set up a cycling club for young people in the village.
Then came the Second World War. Having served in the Royal Artillery in WWI, Captain Cutts joined the Anti-Aircraft Tractor Battery, but he retired from military service in 1946 at the age of 57. Sadly, his retirement was all too short: he suffered a fatal heart attack later that year. His name is commemorated on the Banstead War Memorial and he's buried in All Saints churchyard, not far from the memorial... lest we forget.
♦♦ I’m grateful to Lewis Wood and his excellent book These Men of Banstead, published by Banstead History, from which I’ve extracted the information.
I wish there were words
To say what my Heart feels
About the little things you say to me
About the Friendship we have
And I wish I could someday describe
How much I love giving you the little I have
Wish I could tell you how much I appreciate:
The way you have opened my eyes;
To all that is Beautiful,
All that is You.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus"

P.S. I'd still appreciate any comments or suggestions. But since I've been very busy, I'm not really sure if can reciprocate the gesture. I'll try my best to visit your streams during my free time though. Anyways, thanks for visiting! Ü
Here's a shot of a nun at the Phaung Daw Oo temple, Inle Lake, Burma. There were three nuns in a row chanting which was echoing around the temple, it was very soothing.
The five Buddha images at the temple have been so heavenly covered with gold leaf (only by men!) they look like like mushrooms.
Shot at 200mm @ f2.8, ISO 1600 for 1/125sec.

By the way, in Rameswaram you can find the footprint of Hanuman, the monkey god, when he jumped from there to Sri Lanka to save Sita from the demon-king Ravan to bring her back to Lord Rama.
A whole story very pleasant to read about in Dutch or in English.
Please do read it once, you will enjoy it.
