The Vittal Birdev Annual Yatra, is celebrated at Pattan Kodoli village in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra attended by thousands of devotees coming from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra in October. The festival is celebrated to offer prayers to the community diety of the shepherds, Shri Vittal Birdev, an incarnation of Lord Shiva.
Shri Vittal Birdev Yatra is observed in at Pattan Kodoli village 17km from Kolhapur. It is the birth anniversary or Janmotsav festival of Vitthal Birdev Maharaj, who is a reincarnation of Lord Vishnu. Birdev is the family deity of the Shepherd community from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa and Andhra Pradesh.
Shepherds from Maharastra, Andra Pradesh, Karnataka assemble at Pattan Kadoli and celebrate the festival by immersing themselves and everyone around with Turmeric Powder and dry coconut.
