In order to please devoted American 911 enthusiasts who wanted an RS model, Porsche produced the RS America. The RS America was produced as a model year 1993 and 1994 car based on the USA Carrera 2. The RS America featured a distinctive "whale tail" spoiler, a partially stripped interior with flat door panels (from the European RS) and carpeting along with a luggage shelf replacing the rear seats. Cloth covered sports seats, 17 inch wheels and M030 Sports Suspension were fitted as standard. The logo "RS America" was written on the deck lid along with an "RS" logo in front of the rear wheels. Deleted to save weight were power steering, cruise control, powered side mirrors, air-conditioning, sunroof and radio, although the air-conditioning, sunroof and radio as well as a limited slip differential could be ordered as options. The RS America was listed by Porsche as weighing 2,954 pounds (1,340 kg), 77 pounds (35 kg) lighter than the weight listed for a stock Carrera 2. The standard USA Carrera 2 brakes, engine and gearbox were used. North American engine.
Morbark devoted much time and resources to showcasing its full lineup of machines, including the 4600, 6600 Horizontal Grinders, 40/36 Straight Chipper, 2355 Chipharvester and much more. They had the largest and most impressive display of equipment. The demo area was a bit no-nonsense (no flat panel televisions and so forth). But the effect was an obvious commitment to the Biomass industry. Morbark is the world's largest and in my opinion the best manufacturer of grinders and chippers.

A few devoted pataphysicians spent their Sunday afternoon preparing the Pataphysical Slot Machine exhibit for our open studio and soirée at the Figurine Ranch:
• We spread out a beautiful persian rug on loan from Dr. Skidz;
• We added black muslin behind the slot machine to make the art pop;
• Dr. Heatshrink performed last minute electronic sugery to bring a few boxes back to life;
• Dr. Canard hot glued a few parts that had fallen out of place;
• Drs. Figurine and Fabio set up the lights and sounds, then called it a day.

35th annual Rosary Sunday draws thousands devoted to Mary, holy rosary
Story by Gina Keating

In a kaleidoscope of colors, sound and movement, more than 6,000 faithful in the Phoenix Diocese gathered to honor Mary in the most anticipated Catholic event of the year, Rosary Sunday.
Under her title Mary, Help of Christians, the 35th annual celebration continued its traditional offerings of confession, adoration, benediction and recitation of the rosary.
The downtown Phoenix Convention Center opened its doors Oct. 10 to ethnically diverse members of the Body of Christ whose public prayers in different tongues paid homage to Mary, especially for her protection of the unborn.
Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted was greeted with a standing ovation from an enthusiastic crowd that filled the seats, as others searched for open spots.
“Today, we see how Mary is the mother of all of us,” Bishop Olmsted said in his bilingual address.
Auxilary Bishop Eduardo Nevares, recently back from a trip to Rome, delivered an apostolic blessing from Pope Benedict, which was received with a round of applause.
Christy O’Gara said she attended the event for the second year with her six children so they could “see all those that love Jesus.”
“Now, more than ever, we desire to be together as witnesses to the world,” O’Gara said.

This little boy spent a good 5 mins or so praying with his eyes so tightly closed. He was so adorable. I wish I could just take him home with me.
The Path thought the Irises by Claude Monet
Monet devoted the last dozen years of his life to the extraordinary large-scale decorative cycle that was installed in the Orangerie, Paris, after his death. With only a handful of exceptions, the motifs for the two hundred canvases on which he worked after his 1908 trip to Venice were taken from the extensive gardens that he had developed on his property at Giverny, and these canvases all relate in one way or another to the Orangerie cycle. His views of the water-lily pond are perhaps the most famous, but he also worked hard to extract novel compositions from other corners of his garden, where there were diverse plantings such as weeping willows, roses, and irises.
Like those he made of water lilies, his paintings of irises were meant to rise from the particular to the universal. In this work, the most highly finished of the series, the flowers are offered not as botanical specimens but as archetypes. Monet focused his energies on the movement of the swordlike leaves and on the unusual harmony of ocher, violet, blue green, and yellow green. Although the artist was already experiencing great difficulties with his eyesight, any grower of irises will recognize that he knowingly found the reddish purple tint that hides within every blue iris.

Yesterday, December 19, was another day devoted to
boat preparations. Our rental car had to be back by
11:30 or we would have to pay for another day.
Renting a car is not cheap here. We organized our day
around the bridge opening times. At the first bridge
closing, we headed west away from the bridge in light
traffic, watching those heading east towards the
bridge lined up for a mile. We first stopped at the
sailmaker. Laura went in while I sat in the
double-parked car. Laura checked on his work and
found that he had gotten confused about what wed had
asked of him and had sewn a batten pocket closed. He
quickly set out to fix his error as we waited, but
that set us off of our tight schedule. From the
sailmaker we headed to a new supermarket we noticed on
the road to Marigot. It was the nicest one we had
seen and, with this one, we had seen them all. We
quickly loaded up the cart with 48 rolls of Charmin,
bananas, and other stuff that we grabbed off the
shelves quickly. Then back to the marina to unload
these new purchases plus those of the day before that
still filled the trunk. I also got 4 gallons of
diesel motor oil. The day was hot with passing
squalls, and we worked up a sweat hauling our load
onto the boat. We then left for the car rental place,
located on the other side of the bridge just 15
minutes before the next bridge closing. We walked
back to the marina and rested before setting out by
taxi to Budget Marine to pick up our new dinghy and
outboard engine, and a few marine odds and ends. They
now know us well at Budget Marine. We work mostly with
Rosemary and Andrew, who were very patient and
helpful. It took a while to get the dinghy all set up
at Budget Marines dock, and we had problems getting
the outboard to start for the first time. Finally it
sprang to life and we headed off across Simpsons
Lagoon at the slowest possible speed. The manual says
that new outboards should be run at dead slow for the
first hour as part of the break-in process.
As we started the process of turning our mizzen
boom into a crane to haul the outboard onto the
transom of Sabbatical III, we starting talking with
Mike and Marlene in the boat next to ours. They have
been sailing out of St. Maarten for the past 14 years,
sailing around the islands for 6 months each winter
and spring before having their boat sailed back to the
States for them. They had some useful suggestions
about anchorages in St.Barths and elsewhere.
It is December 20th now, and we got lots done today
so it looks like we will push off to make the 9 am
bridge opening (the only other choices are 11:00 and
4:30). The weather is clear and hot and the wind has
moderated. Farmer (real name Elwyn Charles) come
by this morning to help to haul the big genoa out of
the sail locker and install some Dri-Deck on the
bottom of the locker to help keep the sail dry. While
we were at it, we emptied a number of lockers to make
sure everything is dry and mildew free, and left it
all sitting up on the deck for the day. Farmer is the
guy who watched over our boat since it arrived,
flushed our watermaker every week, and gave it a good
scrub. Everyone knows him at the marina and many
boaters trust him for all sorts of boat-keeping
responsibilities. His picture is attached, as is one
of the boat from across the dock (with our new AB
dinghy tied to the stern), and one of the sweaty
captain.

Devoted to Our Lady of Good Health, and can be traced to the mid-16th century, and is attributed to three miracles at different sites around where the Bacilica currently stands. Our Lady's Pond and the Nadu Thittu Shrine are the sites of the first two miracles, said to be apparitions of Our Lady to two local children. The Bacilica itself started as chapel, built by Portuguese sailors rescued from a violent sea storm.
The garden is largely devoted to a green parterre of gravel and lawn populated with statues and centred on a large octagonal basin of water, with a central jet of water; in it children sail model boats.[5] The garden is famed for its calm atmosphere. Surrounding the bassin on the raised balustraded terraces are a series of statues of former French queens, saints and copies after the Antique. In the southwest corner, there is an orchard of apple and pear trees and the théâtre des marionnettes (puppet theatre). The gardens include a large fenced-in playground for young children and their parents and a vintage carousel. In addition, free musical performances are presented in a gazebo on the grounds and there is a small cafe restaurant nearby, under the trees, with both indoor and outdoor seating from which many people enjoy the music over a glass of wine. This is a shrine devoted to La Santa Muerte. A non-catholic devotional figure that has embodied a shelter symbol in popular lore. Frequently related with thieves and criminals because it's unconditional protection attributes, La Santa Muerte has a dedicated shrine in la Parroquia de la Misericordia, at the heart of Tepito neighborhood. During our filming day, lots of devotees came to pray in front of this shrine. They put a closed fist on their chests and reached the other hand open to touch the glass, whispering their prayers and pleadings with head low. Very impressive.
The word "amparo" means shelter.

Museum Tinguely embarks on a special journey
This Summer Museum Tinguely Basel will celebrate its 25th anniversary by weighing anchor and embarking on a very special journey. Museum Tinguely AHOY! is devoted to taking the art of Jean Tinguely (1925–1991), one of the greatest and most innovative Swiss artists of the twentieth century, to the people in a specially converted barge. The travel stops of MS Evolutie will be places of relevance to Tinguely's artistic career, from Paris to Antwerp and Amsterdam, and from there upriver through the urban centres of the Rhine-Ruhr region and back to Basel.
In Tinguely’s footsteps between Paris, Amsterdam, and Basel
Exhibition on board the MS Evolutie, 17 July to 26 September 2021
An avid creator of kinetic sculptures, Swiss artist Jean Tinguely (1925–1991) made movement the centerpiece of his oeuvre, indeed of his whole life. Hence the opening of his Für Statik manifesto, which according to a legend he printed as a flyer and scattered from a plane over Düsseldorf in 1959: ‘Everything moves! Rest does not exist’. True to this motto, Museum Tinguely’s festivities to mark 25 Years of Moving Art are to include the exhibition Et tout ceci est vrai! on board the converted barge MS Evolutie. The exhibition will reference the various stops on the Museum Tinguely AHOY! jubilee voyage, and with photographs, writings, audio stations, films and models installed in the ca. 100 square-meter hull of the vessel will showcase Jean Tinguely the artist and his art. On this journey back in time visitors will be able to follow Tinguely’s trajectory from his first exhibitions in galleries in Paris in the late 1950s and his first solo show at the Haus Lange Museum in Krefeld in 1960 to the great retrospectives of later years, including that at the Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg in 1978. To convey the works’ immediacy and the sensory pleasure of experiencing them live – even ‘on the road’ – the museum has built models inspired by Tinguely’s kinetic originals. On pressing a button, therefore, visitors will be able to enjoy the jangling, squeaking and clanking of his machines and to sway to the videos, audios and projections of his works.
Jean Tinguely’s Amsterdam was and is the Stedelijk Museum, which is bound up with his career as is almost no other. It was Willem Sandberg, the near-legendary and highly influential director of the Stedelijk Museum, who played the lead role initially. Sandberg, who first joined the Stedelijk in 1928, took over as its director after the Second World War and set about establishing it as a contemporary art museum of international renown. In both its exhibitions and in its printed matter – all of which the director, as a trained graphic designer and typographer, designed himself – the museum set new standards for the communication of modern art. Sandberg brought design, prints and photography to the Stedelijk; he also showed films and music there, making it a favourite haunt of the younger generation. Edy de Wilde, Sandberg’s successor, continued as he had begun. It was under these two directors (supported by curators like Ad Petersen), that the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam staged five exhibitions in which Jean Tinguely had a major role to play.
The first of these was Bewogen Beweging of 1961, a show that aimed to assemble kinetic art of renown from all over the world, both historical and contemporary, in a single exhibition. Sandberg had met Daniel Spoerri in Zurich and it was from that encounter that the exhibition concept emerged, as outlined by Spoerri in a letter to Sandberg dated 8 June 1960. Just four days later Tinguely wrote to Sandberg to express an interest in taking part in the exhibition in Amsterdam and offering his support for the undertaking. That Pontus Hultén, who by then was already director of the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, was likewise hatching plans for an exhibition of kinetic art of his own is unsurprising, given the friendship between all those involved. It was decided that Sandberg would leave the organization of the exhibition in Amsterdam to Spoerri, who in turn would define the key aspects of the project in collaboration with Hultén. The working group driving the project made up of Hultén, Sandberg, Spoerri and Tinguely was formalized in October 1960. As much as the two exhibitions in Amsterdam and later in Stockholm differed (both from each other and from the third port of call at the Louisiana Museum in Humlebaek, Copenhagen), Tinguely was by far the most prominent artist at all three editions. Bewogen Beweging at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam established Tinguely as the most important kinetic artist of his time.

German postcard by FBZ, no. 132. Photo: Zeyn Film / Niczky. Theo Lingen in Der Theodor im Fußballtor / Theodor in the Football Goal (E.W. Emo, 1950).
German-Austrian comedian, director and author Theo Lingen (1903-1978) enjoyed for decades a huge popularity as the devoted servant or bureaucratic dignitary in films. The German and Austrian comedy isn’t imaginable without this brilliant character actor.
Theo Lingen was born Franz Theodor Schmitz in 1903 in Hanover, Germany. He attended the Royal Goethe Gymnasium – the predecessor of the Goethe School – in Hanover but left before taking the Abitur (final exams). His theatrical talent was discovered during rehearsals for a school performance at the Boulevard Theatre in Schauenberg. Beginning his professional stage career in 1921, the young actor adopted as a stage name his middle name together with that of the birthplace of his father, Lingen in the Emsland region of Germany. He didn't confine to acting but also wrote theatre plays that he directed himself. He appeared in over 230 films between 1929 and 1978 and directed 21 films between 1936 and 1960. He played non-comic characters – and sometimes danced - in such musicals as Dolly macht Karriere/Dolly's Way to Stardom (Anatole Litvak, 1930) starring Dolly Haas, and Das Flötenkonzert von Sanssouci/The Flute Concert of Sans-Souci (Gustav Ucicky, 1930) and played friendly villains in the classics M (Fritz Lang, 1931) starring Peter Lorre and Das Testament des Dr. Mabuse/Dr. Mabuses Testament (Fritz Lang, 1933). But the funny effect which his performance had on the public, wasn't to be missed. From 1933, comedy was his domain, and the Austrian comic Hans Moser became his partner in 24 films. Together they made a contrasting pair in such popular entertainment films as the operetta Rosen in Tirol/The Bird Seller (Géza von Bolváry, 1940), Wiener Blut/Vienna Blood (Willi Forst, 1942) starring Willy Fritsch, and the comedy Schäm' dich, Brigitte!/Shame on You, Brigitte! (E.W. Emo, 1952) with Heinz Rühmann.
From 1929 on, Theo Lingen performed in Berlin, for instance in Bertold Brecht's 'Dreigroschenoper' (The Threepenny Opera), and in avantgarde plays, but also in cabaret and revue programmes at the Kurfürstendamm. In February 1928, his daughter, Ursula, was born to Brecht's then-wife, singer Marianne Zoff. Brecht and Zoff divorced in September; Lingen and Zoff married later that year. Because Zoff was Jewish, which under the Nazi regime usually resulted in a professional ban, Lingen thought about going into exile, but because of his great popularity with the general public Josef Goebbels gave him a special permit to continue to perform. Lingen directed his first, short films in 1936, the four-part series of Eulenspiegel. From 1939 to 1956, he directed 18 feature films, including a buoyant film version of Paul Lincke's operetta Frau Luna/Mistress Moon (1941) with Lizzi Waldmüller, and Liebeskomödie/Comedy of Love (1942) with Magda Schneider. Till the end of the war he acted in such popular comedies as Die Finanzen des Grossherzogs/The Grand Duke's Finances (Gustaf Gründgens, 1934), Der Himmel auf Erden/Heaven on Earth (E.W. Emo, 1935), Ich liebe alle Frauen/I Live All Women (Carl Lamac, 1935) starring Jan Kiepura, Der Mann, von dem man spricht/The Man, About Whom One Talks (E.W. Emo, 1937) with Heinz Rühmann, and Sieben Jahre Pech/Seven Years Hard Luck (Ernst Marischka, 1940). One of his most successful appearances was his double role of a building contractor and a servant in the film version of Lingen's own play Johann (Robert A. Stemmle, 1942). In 1944 Lingen moved to Vienna, Austria.
In 1945 Theo Lingen was chosen mayor as the temporary mayor of Strobl, an Austrian community, and in 1946 he got the Austrian nationality. From 1948 he was an ensemble member at the famous Burgtheater in Vienna and played there until his death many character roles. The post-war cinema at first offered him leading roles in remakes of successful early sound films, in sportive slapstick comedies, and Heimat films. Very funny is Jetzt schlägt’s 13/The Clock Ticks Thirteen (E.W. Emo, 1950) with Lingen and Hans Moser as two butlers who suspect each other of being mass murderers. Other popular films were Heidi (Luigi Comencini, 1952), Pension Schöller (Georg Jacoby, 1960) and Bei Pichler stimmt die Kasse nicht/Pichler's Books Are Not in Order (Hans Quest, 1961) with Georg Thomalla. During the 1960s the German entertainment film sagged more and more into triviality. Lingen often had to impersonate hysterical characters in such slapstick comedies as Die Lümmel von der ersten Bank/To Hell with School (Werner Jacobs, 1968), Pepe, der Paukerschreck/Pepe: His Teacher's Fright (Harald Reinl, 1969) and Tante Trude aus Buxtehude/Aunt Trude from Buxtehude (Franz Josef Gottlieb, 1971) with TV star Rudi Carrell. More demanding were his roles in TV films and series, and on stage. Theo Lingen died of cancer in Vienna in 1978. He was 75. His daughter Ursula Lingen also became an actress.

ROMANS 12:10-16
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
