Not one, but TWO shows in one night. We started at Bimbo's opening up for the Dresden Dolls, which was awesome. We would have loved to hang out but we had to high-tail it over to the Clay Movie theater for the midnight movie....Plan From Outer Space. A great evening all around.
This wonderful creature is reportedly a retired rodeo bull. He is spending his retirement in a pasture that overlooks Devil's Tower National Monument. Or maybe I should say the Devils Tower overlooks him...
Love his asymmetrical horns... Hated that he was plagued by flies (the little black spots)...
The beer blackboard at Devils Backbone brewpub. Three of the seasonals we tried were Kung Pow! Enter the Hop, Danzig Baltic Porter, and Anniversary Ale. [Descriptions: here.]

The Brew Ridge Trail meanders through Virginia's scenic Nelson and Albemarle Counties.
On a chilly, dank December afternoon, we toured two of the breweries along that trail: Devils Backbone (brewpub) in Roseland and Blue Mountain (brewery with a tap room) in Afton, both on VA route 151. We were welcomed by good beer, good food, and fine folk.

The Devils Marbles is a large field of boulders in the central Australian desert of the Northern Territory. There is an overnight camping area and it is wonderful to experience sunset and sunrise amongst the huge stones. The site is known as Karlu Karlu to the land's Aboriginal traditional owners.

You may remember Devils Tower from "Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind" . . . if you made it through that movie. When we got there the sun was beaming overhead and after some major photoshop editing I was able to save at least one photo.
