The Devil's Golf Course is a large salt pan on the floor of Death Valley, located in the Mojave Desert within Death Valley National Park. The park is in eastern California.
It was named after a line in the 1934 National Park Service guide book to Death Valley National Monument, which stated that "Only the devil could play golf" on its surface, due to a rough texture from the large halite salt crystal formations.

This is a deviled (or "stuffed") ostrich egg. It tasted *exactly* like a hen's egg. The toothpicks were supposed to hold the plastic wrap away from the mayonnaise and egg yolk mixture for the car ride to the party.

These blow through about 1 every 5 min in the afternoons. The temperature rises and the winds blow about 50 mph. These aren't strong enough to carry you off; they just fill your ears, nose, and mouth full of sand.

Devil's club is an abundant plant in moist areas throughout the Northwest. It blooms in the early spring and adds color to the forests. Devil's club has very sharp thorns on its stalk and is be be avoided while hiking in the forests. Why this one small leaf turned yellow I do not know but it make for an interesting composition.
