Devils Island is part of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore on Lake Superior in Ashland County, near the city of Bayfield and is the northernmost point in Wisconsin. First lit in 1901, the 80' white iron tower at the northern end of the island is topped with a third-order Fresnel lens and continues to this day to be an active aid to navigation. When it was first built the tower was a cylindrical tube, with short buttresses attached to its base. It was soon discovered that high winds caused the tower to shake violently, and the present exterior braces were put in place in 1914. Devils Island eventually became the last manned station in the Apostle Islands. This era finally ended in 1978 when the Devils Island Light was automated as well, marking the end of over a century of lightkeepers tending lights in the Apostle Islands. Devils Island is accessible only by boat and the station retains its fog signal building, oil houses and two brick Queen Anne keeper's dwellings.

Is this an MRI scan of the brain's blood-vessels? No, just a twin picture of a dead tree. Converted this picture into a PS brush, making it mirror by accident by pushing 'flip horizontal'. Automatically a Rorschach test developed. This time as a structure instead of stains.
In the middle, from top to bottom, if you take a careful look, all kinds of Develish faces appear. And in the black hole above the 'eyes', there is a centerpiece resembling the Holy Virgin. From a distance the whole picture becomes a face. The Devil is not only in the details...
Not for people with a tendency to metaphysics!
Best seen on black.
Devils Peak, Cape Town as seen from Rhodes Memorial. Winter believe it or not, and the clouds just opened for a little while.

- www.kevin-palmer.com - I've been to Devils Tower many times, but never in the fall. There are a variety of colorful trees growing next to the Belle Fourche River. I wandered around south of the campground trying to capture both the trees and the tower in the golden evening light.
As I was heading out to visit some areas we stopped at Devils Tower to grab a few shots. It had been raining a good amount so we kept moving but it was a cool sight to see.
It seems to have become tradition for Brussels Airlines to decorate an Airbus to celebrate their football team. Including a pair wearing identical liveries about ten years ago, there have now been four aircraft so painted.
This one, OO-SNO, reflects the modern era by also promoting the women's side who are nicknamed the Red Flames, the men's team having the moniker the Red Devils.
The aircraft was launched in this livery on 15th November 2022.

Just a half-mile west of Loveland, Colorado, this aptly named formation juts out of the ground and extends some miles to the north from US Hwy 34. The East side is a park, with trails that wind about for miles. The less often seen West side, which these photos are of, has been given over to residential development, though there are few houses right up next to the formation. For years, I always marveled at this natural structure, but never stopped to investigate, in a hurry to get to the beckoning mountains only a few miles from here. The last few times I've been through here, however, I've always stopped and hiked at least up to the "Keyhole" (the largest of many openings in the "wall"--one of which can be seen here). The forces that produced this formation also produced the "Garden of the Gods," Roxborough Park, and numerous other sandstone formation that parallel the Front Range of the Rockies.

Sunday morning walk from Sunshine Beach Surf Club to Devil's Kitchen and Lion Rock in the Noosa National Park.
Spectacular cliffs and deep blue/green sea with crashing waves.
The eastern side of Noosa Head faces into the prevailing southerly swell and winds, and is a far more energetic shoreline. The basalt rocks of the head extend south for 2 km to Paradise Caves, with two beaches in between. The Noosa walking track runs to the head and along the back of both beaches and on to neighbouring Sunshine Beach.
Lol, for the shot I tried to guide this Devil's Coachhorse into position with a little twig, but it chose to run up it instead. It posed quite nicely, but briefly, before throwing itself off the end, landing on my hand, where it opened its mandibles wide. Oooer, down you go!

In an effort to emulate the amazing photography of Igor Siwanowicz photo.net/photos/siwanowicz I posed my Devil Flower Mantis.
I love winter in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It means plenty of opportunity to practice my long exposure time skills. This is Devil's Creek Falls and is accessible only by a dirt road with 1000 foot drops into the American River Canyon and a 107-year old suspension bridge with a 3/100 safety rating. The things we do for photographs.

This crater is located in the Wai O Tapu thermal area just outside Rotorua on New Zealand’s North Island. The surreal colour of the hot water is caused by the presence of sulphur and ferrous salts.
