Left work at 2, went home and packed and hit the road....Really needed R&R trip this time! This spot is from an area of the parkway that I don't frequent enough between Hillsville,Va and Boone,Nc. Some really beautiful places along here. Awesome cloud action throughout the afternoon.

Grandfather Mountain tomorrow morning ( clouds willing) and then on to Asheville. Gosh, I love vacation!

The "devils marbles" are another often-photographed icon of the central Australian desert and proved to be a challenge. In this case I settled for a fairly common viewpoint and chose my foreground very carefully.

Bigger on black here.

These are the steps leading down to the Devil's Pulpit. It's not a simple decent and it's even more trickier when carrying round your neck, a backpack, tripod and a GoPro all at the same time. Next time I know what to expect and will dress more appropraitely too. I was covered in mud and my favourite boots took quite a battering.

- www.kevin-palmer.com - The shape of Devils Tower changes as you walk around it. This is what it looks like from the north on Joyner Ridge Trail.

It was raining heavily on that day which made the serie quite tricky.

Dubbed a "Mini Bryce Canyon", this Devil's Kitchen is a redrock scar in the rolling green landscape.

This is the „Teufelsmauer“, a geologic oddity that can be found near the Harz mountains and near to my stay last weekend. I visited the place before, it's a strange landmark. Weather was great, bot so much the time I got there, but at least some landscape pictures.

From a website:

Devils Bridge

CONSTRUCTED BETWEEN 1515 AND 1518 in the early 16th century by a builder Dimitar from the nearby village of Nedelino, Dyavolski most, the Devil’s Bridge or also known in Turkish as “Sheytan Kyupriya”, is the most stunning of the humpbacked bridges that cross the Arda River in Bulgaria. It was built over a demolished Roman bridge and cuts from the steep slopes of the Rhodope Mountains along an ancient road linking the Aegean Sea and the Northern Thracian Valley (Gornotrakiiskata Nizina).

The bridge is located near the town of Ardino, which even has a water fountain shaped like the bridge. Its span is 185 feet long, 11.5 feet wide, and at its gravity-defying central arch stands 37.7 feet high. Interior semi-circular arches were built in to monitor the water level.

The reason some locals are hesitant to cross at night is rooted in dark lore. One story is that the head builder’s wife passed away during construction, so her shadow was encased in the structure. Another tale has it that the devil’s footprint can be found somewhere on the rocks. While this is all folkloric myth, its towering form does make for a somewhat unsettling vista in the darkness.

Speak of the devil and he appears.

in the land beyond Hope lies Peak Cavern affectionately known as the Devil's Arse

I see her walk into the room

With an evil smile curved like lace

She felt my pain inside

Jabbed and stabbed at my problems I couldn't face,

Just to see me cry.

She tells me that she loves me more now

But it doesn't really show

I wanted to get up and walk away leaving her

But I just couldn't let her go.

I tell her that I need her, want her,

She sighs looks away from me

Tells me to make a promise

Not just make-believe.

She tells me that she's a devil

A devil in disguise

An angelic hell-bound evil

That will steal my soul and hang me out to dry.

A Mixtec devil from Huajuapan de Leon, take over the streets of Oaxaca on a dark night.

Devils Island is part of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore on Lake Superior in Ashland County, near the city of Bayfield and is the northernmost point in Wisconsin. First lit in 1901, the 80' white iron tower at the northern end of the island is topped with a third-order Fresnel lens and continues to this day to be an active aid to navigation. When it was first built the tower was a cylindrical tube, with short buttresses attached to its base. It was soon discovered that high winds caused the tower to shake violently, and the present exterior braces were put in place in 1914. Devils Island eventually became the last manned station in the Apostle Islands. This era finally ended in 1978 when the Devils Island Light was automated as well, marking the end of over a century of lightkeepers tending lights in the Apostle Islands. Devils Island is accessible only by boat and the station retains its fog signal building, oil houses and two brick Queen Anne keeper's dwellings.
