Inspired by Oblique Strategies, a series of card prompts to overcome creative blocks, Abandon Normal Devices invited AND artists from the last decade to devise a new collection of strategies reflecting on our altered world and the way we are now required to exist and behave.
The newly commissioned artworks by Rafaël Rozendaal are a meditation on technology, time and observation. The hyper reduction of horizons in fluro pastels are the artist’s impressions of distant views – as seen through our devices – intensified and transmuted by technology.
Lithographically printed on high-quality 400gsm uncoated stock and sized at 70 x 98mm, they will fit seamlessly with existing Oblique Strategies packs. Cards can be purchased as singles* or as a limited edition complete series of 10, which are packaged in a bespoke 175gsm G.F Smith envelope. Domestic and global shipping is included in the price.

Artistic and visionary creations have always inspired scientists to design spacecraft that have taken the first human into the infinite space.
With the expert guidance of mentors, rocket models will be assembled that can fly with the help of water pressure. Together, we will build a launch ramp for launching water rockets, enabling safe launches of water rockets into the distance.
BridA / Tom Kerševan, Sendi Mango, Jurij Pavlica is a collective made up of graduates from the Venice Academy of Fine Arts, formed in 1996 during their university years. The group produces artwork across a wide spectrum of contemporary artistic practices exhibits both locally and internationally, and has participated in numerous international residency programs, workshops and seminars. BridA’s works have been purchased for a score of international contemporary art collections. In 2015 they received the highest award of the Municipality of Nova Gorica, the France Bevk Prize, commemorating 20 years of their successful activity; in 2018 they received the international Tesla Award. They are recipients of the Iaspis scholarship awarded by the Swedish Ministry of Culture, and Culture Bridges, awarded by the British Council under the EU.

In the framework of the MADE IN – Platform for Contemporary Crafts and Design, the fifth edition of the AND Fair: Abandon Normal Devices (Sajam 3N: Napusti normalne naprave) took place in Rijeka on April 19th and 20th, featuring an intriguing showcase of various devices and objects by Radiona association from Zagreb, and collectives Cirkulacija2 and BridA from Slovenia, along with a rich program of workshops for both children and adults.
