Inter-American Development Bank and the Thirty-eighth Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of IDB
Visit to the Refugee Development Center of Lansing, Michigan on Friday May 4rd. From their site, the Lansing Refugee Development Center (www.refugeedevelopmentcenter.org/): "...is a grassroots organization offering formal and informal learning opportunities in an open and inclusive setting. The RDC opened in 2002 because the Greater Lansing community identified service area gaps for newcomer populations seeking self-sufficiency. The common denominator in the gaps identified revolved around education, and hence, the mission of the center was born. Today, the RDC helps serve as the link between newcomer populations and the private, public, and faith-based communities of Ingham County." The visit was hosted by Erika Brown Binton, Executive Director. From the Government Relations site, "the Michigan Road Scholar Tour takes faculty of the University of Michigan (U-M) on a five-day traveling seminar on the State of Michigan. This educational tour exposes participants to the state’s economy, government and politics, culture, educational systems, health and social issues, history, and geography."

OPENING LUNCH: THE MOMENT OF TRUTH FOR DRUG DEVELOPMENT
Hosted by PAREXEL
The rising cost of failure. Lack of productivity gains. Intense pressure on prices and escalating demands to demonstrate value. All these factors are threatening the sustainability of pharmaceutical development, at a time when advances in medical science should be translating into significant gains for the industry and society. But a new class of technologies and patient-centric approaches may soon alter the playing field in a big way, allowing drug developers to leverage everything from real world data, to the use of precision medicine and cross-silo collaboration—driving up success rates and the value proposition for new medicines. We dig into the latest marvels in pharmaceutical development, discuss new research findings and probe how the transformative role of data might prove decisive for the future of the industry.
