In search or the perfect face

This public fórum, held on 23 April 2018 in Maputo, shared the results of the report on the business landscape for Mozambican manufacturing firms.

 

The event shed light on the current challenges faced by micro-, small- and medium-sized firms in the country’s manufacturing sector — and how policy can tackle these issues to allow firms to thrive. Special attention was paid to the business environment in which these enterprises operate.

The conference on “Post-2015 Development Agenda and Azerbaijani Youth” was held today by joint cooperation of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Academy of Public Administration, UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF and the National Assembly of Youth Organizations of Republic of Azerbaijan (NAYORA). The conference was a validation and closing of post-2015 national consultations which had been held for two years in Azerbaijan. In September 2015, UN Member States will vote for the Post-2015 development agenda during autumn session of the General Assembly. The outcome of consultations will be applied to preparation of the above mentioned agenda.

 

Ms. Indira Hajiyeva Azad Rahimov, Head of Department on Youth Affairs of the Minister of Youth and Sport, Mr. Antonius Broek, UN Resident Coordinator, Mr. Andro Shilakadze, UNICEF Representative in Azerbaijan, Ms. Nato Alhazishvili, UNDP Deputy Resident Coordinator, Mr. Urkhan Alakbarov, rector of Academy of Public Administration and Mr. Shahin Sayidzade, Chairman of NAYORA made speeches and discussed new UN global development agenda, sustainable development objectives as well as priorities and problems of new development agenda of Azerbaijan. Recently adopted Development Strategy of Azerbaijani Youth was also put forward for extensive discussion during event.

 

While participating at consultations youth organizations, representatives of governmental, international donors and agencies, mass media expressed their opinion on the means of localization of new global development goals in Azerbaijan.

 

Note that the second round of Post-2015 national consultations led by UN in Azerbaijan laucnhed in July-August 2014. The consultations have been organized with the representatives of youth and youth organizations in Ganja, Guba and Baku cities with a joint cooperation of UNDP, UNFPA, Ministry of Youth and Sports and NAYORA. As a result,, a joint final report was prepared and the outcomes have been presented to UN Headquarter.

At the Community Activity Center on Camp Casey May 29, civilians and Soldiers of the U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I attend a professional development session geared especially to those in leadership positions. The audience of 145 leaders heard briefings on a range of topics that included customer service, mentoring subordinates, administrative and maintenance matters, and leadership itself. Speakers included Col. John M. Scott, Commander, USAG Red Cloud and Area I, and other garrison officials. The afternoon was capped by an indoor supper of hot dogs and hamburgers.

A trade fair in one of biggest malls in Davao City, Philippines featuring products from the ILO PLEDGE Programme, which contributed to building peace, developing skills, supporting enterprises and promoting local economic development with the support of the Mindanao Trust Fund.

The 8th annual International Space Station Research and Development Conference (ISSRDC) was held July 29 to August 1, 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia. The ISSRDC conference—held in coordination with the International Space Station (ISS) U.S. National Laboratory, the American Astronautical Society, and NASA—was created to connect U.S. government agencies, commercial enterprises, and academic communities in order to foster new innovations, breakthroughs, and discoveries onboard humankind’s unique orbiting laboratory.

The group then explored a wide range of approaches to community development and how best to build an effective plan using the strengths of a range of methods. Methods along the top ranged from being asked stuff on the left, through doing stuff in the middle to running things on the right.

 

The map showed that for people to end up wanting to run things, we usually first need the experience of being listened and responded to on the things most immediately important to us and second to have had good experiences of doing things in way were we felt valued and supported.
