IIED and pastoralism specialist Saverio Krätli are developing a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) funded by Misereor. The MOOC will provide an entry point for understanding pastoralism, and a valuable tool for navigating the available knowledge. It will be rooted in empirical observation and the latest breakthroughs in research and theoretical reflection.

The RS232 to USB adaptor also has the advantage to work driverlessly on Mac (at least in 10.4.8 and above).

Originally revealed in 2021 and made up of three distinct areas centered on the intersection of N. LaSalle Street and W. North Avenue, developer Fern Hill has offered updated plans. Fern Hill has tapped architect David Adjaye and local firm GREC Architects to work on its design, though those plans have yet to be made public.
The wedge-shaped block anchored by the historic Moody Church Auditorium and flanked by two gas stations will become the cultural heart of the development. The gas stations (Shell at 130 W. North Ave. and BP at 1674 N. LaSalle Dr.) would be removed and replaced with new commercial structures, which won’t rise taller than the auditorium to preserve the neighborhood context.
NOTE: Developer Fern Hill announced plans in September 2023 for a new, 395-foot, 500-unit tower at the northwest corner of W. North Avenue and N. LaSalle Drive, which is currently a surface parking lot. It will be designed by architects GREC, a Chicago-based firm that took over after architect David Adjaye stepped away from the project amid sexual misconduct accusations at his firm. The building will have two ground-floor retail shops, including Walgreens, which will remain but be redeveloped with a modern design and smaller footprint. Rather than the opaque brick facade that currently exists along North Avenue, the store would have glass windows, and the height would also be scaled down to be in line with the buildings to the north and south. Other proposed changes include the expansion of Moody Church’s campus on the lots that currently house the BP and Shell gas stations, as well as an overhaul of the former Treasure Island on N. LaSalle Street. Moody’s expansion would include a new chapel and new buildings for its administrative offices and educational spaces.

The WORLD CAPITAL OF CULTURE AND TOURISM status for Phnom Penh will bring the inscription of the city as a cultural and patrimony hub of global significance and will also entice the city role as a part of the AGENDA FOR HUMANITY UN program and as a center for the implementation of sustainable development goals in the country and in the region.
MediaCityUK is a 0.82km² (200-acre) property development based on the media industry, located in Salford Quays, in Salford, Greater Manchester, England. MediaCityUK is developed by a partnership of the Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company, Peel Holdings and Salford City Council. One of the original advisors on the development was Michael Joroff of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) who also advises on the development of Digital Media City in Seoul, South Korea, and Digital Mile in Zaragoza, Spain. The development is supported by Salford City Council. When it comes to vacation home development we have lots to choose from in the area, ski hills, golf courses and my favourite - waterfront.

This is the same development bench seen elsewhere in my photostream, but revised for a new home in Reno and a new year.
I installed an extension to accept the vise, since I got tired of items in the vise (usually shotguns) hitting the front of the bench. I also extended the shelf to hold more parts organizers. The cantilever at left is supported by a length of 1½ inch steel angle.
French cleats and shelves go up on the walls next.
An interesting thing about this modified bench is that it will have to be dismantled to be removed from the room, as it will not fit through any of the three doors.
